Happy International Women’s Day 🤍
Each generation walks its own path, but the strength of the women before them continues to light the way.
On International Women’s Day, I find myself reflecting on the women in my own family whose determination created the foundation we stand on today.
My great-great-nana was a suffragette in the UK, part of the early movement fighting for women’s rights. Her courage became the beginning of a legacy of strong, independent women in our family.
My nana later moved to Canada and raised two remarkable daughters. In 1984, she and my mother opened Jacaranda Tree & Co., creating the family business that continues today. My aunt soon joined them to launch the store’s mail-order catalogue, which eventually grew to over one million catalogues distributed each year.
Over the past 40+ years, we have also had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary group of women in the store. Each has brought her own strengths, creativity, and spirit to what we do, helping shape Jacaranda Tree & Co. into what it is today. We are incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such an inspiring group of women.
Today, I feel very lucky to carry forward the legacy these women created alongside my brother — continuing a story built by generations of strong women.
We celebrate the women who came before us, the women shaping the present, and the generations still to come.
