Sometimes the greatest luxury is a space that allows you to fully exhale. This is what we created for our client's daughter in their city pied-à-terre.

As May draws to a close and life begins shifting into summer mode, I’ve been thinking a great deal about the spaces in our homes that quietly support us every single day.

For this month’s journal, we’re taking a deeper look at one of the hardest working rooms in the home — the laundry room. From thoughtful storage to calming material palettes and beautifully integrated function, these spaces have the power to ease the rhythm of daily life in ways that are often underestimated.

Design, to me, has always been about far more than how a space looks. It is about how a space makes you feel. As a child, and even more so as an adult I am endlessly fascinated by how spaces makes me feel, what draws me in and makes me want to stay.

A well-designed home can create harmony within daily life — supporting wellbeing, connection, calm, and a sense of ease. In a world that moves quickly, I believe our homes should offer a place to exhale.

Every project we take on is rooted in the idea that thoughtful design has the power to transform not only a home, but the experience of living within it. Creating spaces that feel comforting, layered, personal, and restorative remains at the heart of everything we do at Gillian Gillies Interiors.
