Two Birds Design is a boutique Interior Design firm in Toronto established by Renee Frostick and Andi Wheelband.

Rather than working in a “signature style” we develop each design based on the unique personality and lifestyle of our client. The first step to a well-designed space is carefully considered space planning. Without it even the most beautiful rooms can feel cluttered, cramped and uncomfortable. We begin with an initial design consultation where we will discuss the scope of your project, your tastes, lifestyle and how you intend to use the space. We’ll talk about your ideas, goals, and budget and come up with the best way to start turning your vision into reality.

Howdy! It’s been a hot minute.

We’ve been a little quiet over here because the last few months have been packed with projects at every stage, client meetings, presentations, site visits, installs… and, life!
When things get busy, the work always takes priority, which means social media takes the back seat.

But! We’ve got some exciting photoshoots coming up, so it feels like the perfect time to dust off our Instagram muscles and share some photos that are near and dear to our hearts.

Not all projects get their moment with styled and polished photography. Sometimes what we’re left with are a an album full of iPhone photos, taken quickly before install days wrapped, in between trades coming and going, or just as we were heading out the door.
No perfect lighting, no styling crew, no retouching, just real moments of a project coming to life.

These are projects that were deeply loved, thoughtfully designed and a result of true collaboration, even if they never made it in front of a professional lens.

They may not have the polished reveal, but they forever live in our hearts (and our camera rolls).

This basement bathroom started as a simple plan on paper, but as the adjacent utility room took shape, the dimensions shifted and suddenly the layout needed to be adjusted. What worked in theory no longer worked in reality. Instead of forcing the original plan, we reworked it. We studied the constraints, reimagined the flow, and found opportunities within the limitations. The result is a functional and beautiful bathroom that maximizes the space within the final footprint.

Because behind every finished space is a series of thoughtful decisions you don’t always see, but you absolutely feel.

A jewel of a powder room that proves small spaces are a great place to take risks and be bold.

This powder room was completed a little over 3 years ago now but the glow up prevails.

We are excited to share that our large-scale renovation project in Markham has officially received Committee of Adjustment approval!

We were able to avoid major variances by primarily working within the existing footprint of the house, adding enough square footage to strategically reimagine the interior layout while staying within the zoning limitations. We redesigned the roofline to increase ceiling heights throughout, dramatically transforming both the interior experience and the facade. New exterior finishes and expansive contemporary windows bring light, proportion, and a strong architectural presence. By respecting the original structure and neighbourhood context, our proposal was considered both reasonable and appropriate, helping to streamline the approval process. And it is always encouraging when board members take a moment to compliment the design.

We can’t wait to bring this transformation to life! Stay tuned as this one unfolds.
