As of May 1, 2021, Health Canada’s Corded Window Coverings Regulations (SOR/2019-97) made it clear: long, accessible cords on window coverings are no longer acceptable for sale in Canada. Any new blinds, shades, or window treatments sold must either be fully cordless or have cords that are completely unreachable, with any remaining cord segments limited to a maximum of 22 cm (single free end) or 44 cm (loop perimeter) when tested under force.
