Tiny treasures. Rusty relics. Pieces of forgotten stories. ✨🗝️

One of my favourite parts of beachcombing in Nova Scotia is that you never know what the tide will give back. Old keys, sea glass, pottery, toy parts, bottles, porcelain, metal fragments, and little mysteries that somehow survived decades in the ocean.

Every piece in this chest was found along the shores of Nova Scotia and each one has its own history buried beneath the salt and sand. 🌊

Honestly… this is probably what happens when curiosity and ADHD become a hobby. 😂

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found on a beach?

Not Sea Glass But Definitely a Sea Glass Treasure!!

I found this really interesting little piece of automotive history a couple years ago.

After cleaning it up just enough to read the lettering, it appears to be an old “Fisher Body” plate or trim piece from an early General Motors vehicle, likely somewhere from the 1910s to 1930s. The design includes the classic carriage-style emblem that reflected the transition from horse-drawn coaches to early automobiles.

Fisher Body manufactured bodies for brands like Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac before becoming part of General Motors.

Not bad for something buried along the shore for decades. It’s amazing to think about where it came from, who owned it, and how it eventually ended up on a beach in Nova Scotia.

Definitely one of my favourite finds so far.

Okay winter… we get it. You’re dramatic. You’re cold. You’re moody. ❄️

It’s not you. It’s us. It’s time we go our separate ways. 🤭

I am ready for the ice to move out, the shorelines to breathe again, and the sound of water instead of wind. I’m ready to trade snow shoveling for sea glass hunts. Ready for pockets full of frosted treasures instead of frosted eyelashes.

There’s something about watching the ice drift away that feels symbolic… like a slow exhale. Like the season is finally letting go.

Spring is coming. The tides are turning. And I, for one, am ready to chase sunshine and sea glass again. 🩵

Who else is counting down?

Back in the fall, I was approached by a Nova Scotia Loyal representative to create a piece that captures what Nova Scotia means to me. I chose a market cart because nothing represents this province better than the people who grow, make, catch, bake, and create the things we love.

We’re home to thriving fishing and farming communities, vineyards and microbreweries, bakeries that can stop you in your tracks, and the freshest fruits and veggies you’ll ever taste. Sweet strawberries, plump blueberries, farm-fresh eggs, maple syrup, local honey… and that’s only scratching the surface.

Nova Scotia is built on makers, growers, harvesters, and creators. Seeing the province step up to celebrate local talent and local products feels incredibly encouraging.

This little market cart is a love letter to all of you who pour your heart into what you do. Thank you for making Nova Scotia what it is.
