The shop may be closed while I’m away, but apparently Atticus still has a few jobs to do. 🌿

I left him in charge of keeping an eye on the plants and the treasures while I take a little holiday.

Judging by the paperwork, he’s taking his responsibilities very seriously. 😂

No customers to greet. No treasures to hunt. Just keep an eye on things until I get back.

Seems simple enough… although leaving Atticus unsupervised in a shop full of treasures may have been a questionable decision. 👀

🌿 A little holiday break! 🌿

I’ve decided to take a little last-minute holiday next week! Sometimes you just have to take the opportunity when it comes. 😊

The shop will be closed Monday, August 31 through Monday, September 7, and I’ll be back Tuesday, September 8, rested and ready to get back to flowers and treasures!

Five Friday Favourites — #2 of 5 ❤️

Next up in my five favourite things… Beauty from Bees!

This one made the anniversary basket because it really is something I use and love myself.

I started using Beauty from Bees products and was so impressed with how they felt on my skin that bringing them into the shop just made sense. And apparently I’m not the only one loving them — after sharing my experience, I’ve already had to reorder!

I always enjoy finding products that I can genuinely recommend because I’ve tried them myself, and this is definitely one of them.

Well…look where I found Atticus. 🍄😂

I go away for a few days and apparently our Chief Treasure Hunter does a little treasure hunting of his own!

He seems pretty pleased with this particular find…and I have to admit, I can’t blame him. These mushrooms are pretty fabulous. 🍄✨

I’m back, Atticus is back on duty, and we’re ready for the rest of the week!

Saturday at Home 🏡

Who says art has to hang over the sofa? And who says it has to cost a fortune?

Every piece of art in these photos was thrifted, and I think that’s part of what I love about them. I bought each one simply because it caught my eye — and then found a spot for it.

Over the stove, tucked in amongst the dishes, sitting on a shelf or displayed on a little easel… I love putting art in places where you might not expect to see it.

Your home doesn’t need to follow any decorating rules. If you love something, bring it home and find a place that makes you smile. ❤️

And thrift stores are a pretty great place to start looking!

Five Friday Favourites — #1 of 5 🎨

For my 5th anniversary, I filled a basket with five of my favourite things from the shop… so I thought, why not share each of them with you?

First up — Fusion Mineral Paint!

One of the things I love most about Fusion is just how easy it is to use. The primer and top coat are built right in, so prep is simple: give your piece a good cleaning with a TSP alternative, a light scuff with sandpaper, and you’re ready to paint.

Furniture painting and upcycling were a big part of how Attic Treasures began, so of course Fusion had to make my list. ❤️

✨ Thursday Treasures — A Little Before & After! ✨

I haven’t shared one of my furniture makeovers in a while, so here’s a little transformation I recently did for a customer.

This sweet little piece had great bones — it just needed a fresh new look. The base was painted in Soapstone by Fusion Mineral Paint, and for the top I used a wash of Algonquin, allowing some of that beautiful wood character to still show through.

I love how the two colours work together — updated, but without taking away all of the charm of the original piece.

Saturday at Home 🏡 | Five Years of Change

Since this week marked 5 years at Attic Treasures, I thought it would be fun to look back at another thing that has changed over those five years… my home upstairs!

The first photo is my living room today — colourful, collected and definitely more me. ❤️

Swipe back and you’ll see what the room looked like before I moved in, followed by my first version of the space. Apparently, I went through a very white and neutral phase! 😂

Over the years, the colour slowly crept in, along with thrifted finds, old pieces, things I’ve repurposed and treasures I just couldn’t leave behind.

Funny how our homes evolve right along with us.

And looking at these pictures now… I’d say my fear of colour is officially gone! 😂
