A huge thankyou to the potters who donated beautiful handmade bowls, the chefs who contributed delicious gourmet soups, stews and chilis , the bakers who made luscious baked goods, and to those sweet souls who were here to set up, serve, bus and clean up at Empty Bowls to make this another successful fundraiser for the food bank. This year we had 13 pots of soup, chili and stew to tempt our guests and over 100 pottery bowls. By 1:30 pm we were sold out of both bowls and soup. !!

Thanks to those of you who couldn’t attend the event but sent a donation to support empty bowls. Thankyou Sarah Hale for adding historical photos as centre pieces for our tables this year. They were a terrific addition.

And finally, kudos to this wonderful community for coming out to support our efforts. Together we raised more than $3,200. for the North and Central Frontenac food bank. This is an all time record folks !

Until next year ….maybe .😊

Saturday Feb 14th marks the 7th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser at the Kennebec Hall in Arden. This year the doors will open at 10am and we close at 2pm …. or when we run out of soup and bowls. 100 pottery bowls have been donated this year by Water’s Edge Pottery and Arden Pottery.

Empty bowls is truly a community effort- from handcrafted pottery bowls donated by local potters, to delicious soups, stews and baked goods made by local chefs, to a kitchen full of volunteers generously donating their time.

For a $25 donation to the food bank you can choose a handmade pottery bowl which is yours to keep, and we fill it with with your choice of soup, chili or stew. Your children have the option of enjoying their soup in a kitchen bowl for 5$.

This years menu includes :
* Basil tomato soup with blue cheese topping
* Venison chili
* Three Sister's Soup
* Hungarian goulash
* Chicken stew
* Curried Squash
* French Canadian bean
* Beef and Barley
* Potato Leek
* Dahl (spicy East Indian lentil soup)
* Potato Bacon
• baked Potato and cheese

Several of our offerings are vegan.
All meals are served with a crusty roll. Hot chocolate, tea and coffee will be available along with plenty of delicious desserts.

All proceeds go directly to our local food bank.
