Soul Divine Living Creating modern, soulful & functional homes through thoughtful furnishing & decorating ✨🫶🏼 📍Vancouver, Canada

For the past 4 months, I have been in an interior design program called For The Designers created and run by Sunny Bae , a local interior designer. The thought of going back to school like Vancouver’s BCIT interior design program was daunting.

Serendipitously, I discovered Sunny’s online interior design program through another interior designer Linda Lam when I was looking up people who took the BCIT program. Shout out to Linda! Thank goodness I didn’t have to go back to traditional school!

I can proudly say I am finally done the course (technically, I was done over 3 weeks ago 😅). Although my focus is furnishing and decorating, I learned so much through the design program.

I can’t say it was easy getting through the course especially as I was going through some tough personal stuff. And there was A LOT to absorb and learn!

The hard part now is taking action but I know Sunny and the community have my back.

Here are some snapshots of my journey in the interior design program so far and of some get togethers with the course community along the way!

Soft, serene, and effortlessly elevated 🤍

This bedroom was designed to feel like a quiet escape—where warm neutrals, layered textures, and subtle gold accents come together to create a sense of calm elegance. The tailored symmetry keeps the space feeling balanced, while the soft palette allows every detail to breathe.

It’s minimal without feeling empty. Refined without feeling cold ✨

A space that invites you to slow down, unwind, and stay a little longer.

A small space reimagined. What a difference thoughtful furniture and decor can do for a smaller living room and dining space! Virtually styled this open house condo in Vancouver that doesn’t have staged furniture as a passion project.

Some tips:

✨An L sectioned couch doesn’t always have to be for bigger spaces. When it’s positioned right, it can open up a space. If a smaller couch was used on the narrow part of the wall by the window, the already small space would look closed off

✨ A round dining table takes up less room and makes the space more visually interesting

✨ Adding decor pieces like a plant, flowers and lighting fixtures livens up the room

✨ Adding furniture to the patio makes the space cozier and ready to be enjoyed

Part 1 of my Networking Experience - Going to Open Houses to Connect with Realtors

Truthfully, I had taken a video of this over 3 weeks ago but am now only posting it as I felt self-conscious about posting videos of myself talking and because it’s kinda long (I have broken it down to 3 parts) 😅 But to keep things read, I still wanted to share it to document my journey of building my interior decorating business.

Creating a business isn’t always glamorous and you have to put in the time, dedication and most of all, your whole self. It takes courage and trying out a lot of new things even when you are scared.

One thing that felt uncomfortable for me was showing up at 2 open houses to network. My intention was to connect with realtors there, introduce my services and chat about how we can help each other out. This was how it went…

Inspiration Project: Beachy Penthouse Bedroom - a modern take on and inspired by Amerie’s ‘Talkin’ To Me’ 2002 music video (as depicted in the last photo) 🎶✨ As a diehard lover of 90s/00s R&B, I get inspiration from the bedrooms in R&B music videos ‘cause they always have the best bedrooms and houses and so ahead of its time! 💗

Inspiration Project: Used Coohom (much more user-friendly than many other softwares out there) to redesign this bedroom in a basement suite using real dimensions from the room. Wanted to give this room a cozy but also functional vibe 🤗 This was a space originally for guests and sometimes a work area. Kept the desk space and added a vanity table and mirror closet to make a truly a bedroom + workspace.

Hi Soulful Friends! 😊

I know it’s been a while since I last posted on here. After a long break, my business Soul Divine Living is back! And yes, I am still a home stylist/decorator and may also explore renovations. Allow me to reintroduce myself.

My name is Elaine Lin | 林綺蓮. I am a 1.5 generation Cantonese Canadian and was born and grew up in Vancouver, BC. I can proudly say that I am in touch with both my Chinese roots and western culture. Life has brought me enriching experiences including studying Mandarin aboard in Qingdao, China and living in Toronto for 6 years before returning to Vancouver.

I work with millennial women and couples who want to transform their space into a modern, sleek and sensual sanctuary. Think smooth velvets, pastel colours and gold and gray metals and accents. I am also into the boho beachy style with whites and beiges and high penthouse ceilings for that tropical getaway feel. I especially enjoy furnishing and decorating living rooms and bedrooms.

I love 90s R&B & pop (I make the best playlists for any mood!), hanging out with friends, checking out things to do in the city, esp with beautiful decor & scenery, travelling, learning about personality modalities and reading self-help books and memoirs ✨ Oh, and I am a May Gemini Sun & Moon ♊️ with Ta**us tendencies, Leo rising 🦁 In case you are wondering 😊

Follow along as I post more about my journey and design tips! If you want to have your space transformed, you can connect with me at [email protected] 💗
