What happens when you take a colour forecast off the paint deck and start pairing it with real materials?

We’ve been spending some time with Sherwin-Williams’ 2027 Colormix® Trend Forecast: Rewild, and this time we wanted to see how the colours would actually live alongside the materials we specify every day.

At Paradigm Kitchen, we built a series of flat lays using cabinet doors and finishes, flooring from Ploutos, tile from Julian Tile, Ann Sacks and Ames Tile, and countertop surfaces from Cambria, Caesarstone and Silestone — then layered in some of the Rewild colours that caught our attention.

Rather than looking at each paint colour in isolation, we wanted to see what happened when it sat beside warm woods, flooring, stone, dimensional tile, dark cabinetry and more unexpected colour combinations. Some palettes came together immediately; others shifted completely once the materials were introduced.

This is one of our favourite parts of the design process at Kelly Arthur Interior Design: taking colour inspiration and giving it context through material, texture and finish.

Kelly Arthur Interior Design x Ploutos | Vancouver Bathroom Renovation

We’re working with Ploutos on the redesign of their bathrooms in Vancouver, and today our teams collaborated on the material and finish selections for the project.

We landed on a warm, layered palette of natural oak, terracotta and sage patterned tile, warm neutral finishes, light stone and black millwork details. Together, the materials bring warmth and character while keeping the overall design clean and contemporary.

One of our favourite parts of the interior design process is seeing the palette come together and establishing the direction for the space. We’re excited to see this bathroom renovation take shape.

Coastal design in British Columbia isn’t about nautical themes—it’s about atmospheric depth. 🌊. Working remotely from Parksville this week, I’m using the coastal scenery and our iconic Arbutus trees to demonstrate how designers translate nature into architectural color palettes using the new 2027 Colormix Forecast: Rewild. Here is how we build a refined West Coast palette using coastal shades from the collection: 🌊 The Coastal Foundation: Tones like Dutch Tile Blue (SW 0031) and Quietude (SW 6212) capture the moody, desaturated blues and sage-grays of our Pacific Northwest waters. 🍂 The Warm Coastal Accent: Reynard (SW 6348) mirrors the copper and burnt-terracotta tones of peeling Arbutus tree bark, bringing immediate, organic warmth to a space. 🌲 The Botanical Grounding: Secret Garden (SW 6181) reflects the lush Arbutus canopy, perfect for custom kitchen cabinetry or mudroom millwork. 🪨 The Architectural Baseline: Clove (SW 9605) and White Duck (SW 7010) draw from sun-bleached driftwood and beach stones, anchoring the palette so cool water tones don’t feel floating or clinical. The Designer Rule: Always pair cool ocean tones with warm, tactile materials—like wire-brushed oak, terracotta accents, natural linen, and unlacquered brass—to keep the space feeling grounded and luxurious. An early look at Sherwin-Williams’ 2027 Colormix® Trend Forecast: Rewild 🌿🎨

At Kelly Arthur Interior Design in Vancouver, BC, we opened the Rewild colour kit for the first time and immediately started imagining how these 2027 paint colours and colour trends could translate into interiors — from furniture and millwork to walls, architectural details and a few unexpected applications.

This is the start of a little series where we’ll take the Sherwin-Williams Rewild palette and turn it into real interior design ideas in our own way.

A look at where things are coming together at our Kerrisdale whole-home renovation in Vancouver.

This multigenerational home is designed around three generations of one family. Our clients and their three children are taking over the main house, while the grandparents are moving into the laneway house that our clients originally lived in before their family outgrew it.

We’ve reworked the existing footprint for their young family of five, creating spaces that make better use of the home today while being able to evolve with them over time.

Our clients love traditional interiors, texture and architectural detail, so we took inspiration from the home’s original arched front entry and carried that shape into new arched openings and custom millwork throughout.

Now that the cabinetry, millwork and tile are going in, we’re finally seeing the design come to life.

From ancient water systems and enduring stone structures to vibrant public spaces and homes shaped by their surroundings, the trip offered a reminder that great design is often less about trends and more about creating places that stand the test of time.

A few details from a townhome project in New Westminster.
While the palette was kept soft and neutral, we layered in texture, pattern, and thoughtful detailing to give the home warmth and personality.
From the mitred tile returns around the kitchen window to colour-matched outlets and iconic pieces like the Eames Lounge Chair and Noguchi coffee table, every decision was made with intention.
The homeowners weren’t afraid of a little personality either, which gave us the opportunity to incorporate playful wallpaper, plenty of greenery, and moments of visual interest throughout the home. It’s those personal touches that make a space feel truly lived in!
