The case for bud vases:
Bud vases are one of our favourite ways to create impact without filling a table with large arrangements. By spreading flowers across the entire tablescape, there’s something beautiful in almost every sightline while still keeping things light, editorial and easy to dine around.
A few things to consider:
1. Quantity matters. We generally start around 1 vase for every 1–2 guests, depending on how full we want the table to feel.
2. One stem can be enough. A sculptural bloom with a little height often has more impact than an overfilled vase.
3. Repetition is what makes it work. A few bud vases can feel sparse. A collection becomes a design element.
4. They’re budget-conscious. Fewer stems per arrangement means you can create floral impact across a much larger table without the cost of full centrepieces.
5. Don’t arrange them too perfectly. Varying heights, loose clusters and a little breathing room keeps everything feeling organic rather than overly styled.
The goal isn’t always more flowers, it’s making every stem count.
