Greta Cornejo has gone down the rabbit hole of machine knitting and, by using the tips taught in our latest Machine Knitting: Hats course at the School of SweetGeorgia, has transformed the Musselburgh hat pattern to be made on the Silver Reed LK 150.

In our latest blog post, Adapting the Musselburgh Hat for the LK 150 Knitting Machine, Greta explains how she converted this pattern, things to be mindful of, colour changes, holding multiple strands, and more!

The joy of creating perfectly uniform knit stitches on a knitting machine is hard to beat. Before long, you find yourself stash diving and making scarves, stoles, and shawls with ease. At some point, a new question naturally comes up. What else can you do with a knitting machine? With a bit of imagination, the answer is: a lot!

With just one simple hat pattern, we learn how to change colours while weaving in ends, how to transform stockinette fabric into ribbing, and how to use a mattress seam for a smooth, polished result.

Come check out our latest pattern included with the newest course at the School of SweetGeorgia, Machine Knitting: Hats! In this online course, instructor Barb Barone also guides us to use this hat as a recipe, teaching us how to customize the fit and style, creating something entirely our own.

We want to thank everyone who joined us in the Winterful Weave-Along this year! We love seeing all the colour palettes, different yarns, and even different ways to transform a pattern into something new.

Weavers know how to celebrate their kitchen better than most makers. Many weavers start with towels and table runners (and they tend to accumulate quickly!). Towels offer an easy way to try new techniques, they are treasured as gifts, and they are made of cotton or linen that is simple to care for.

They are also a wonderful way to play with new colour palettes. All month, we have been playing with swapping colours in drafts, and this is a draft we had to weave!

In our latest blog post, Celebrate Your Kitchen with the Breakfast Eggs Towels, we explore the Breakfast Eggs Towels pattern, originally designed for the Colour & Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom course at the School of SweetGeorgia. Read more about the colour swap at the blog:

It happens at the same time every year…. one minute you are enjoying the autumn activities, then bam, it’s the holiday season! Baking, shopping, speed-crafting, and all the different events to attend. It can feel quite busy and chaotic.

In our latest blog post, Making Peace & Enjoying Craft During the Holidays, Felicia Lo reminds us that we need to slow down, remember why we craft, and enjoy the process!

SECRET STASH CLUB REVEAL // It’s been a whirlwind of a year filled with colour, yarn, and fibre adventures through our Secret Stash Club, and we’re excited to share with you our final Club colourway for 2025—our wish for a blanket of snow this winter: Cold Snap! ❄️

These hand-dyed hues are designed to evoke the tart, sharp, and dark hues of cranberry red, paired with deep icicle navy and blue against a crisp white background. Additional sets can be ordered for a limited time at our online shop, available this month dyed on a special CashSilk Solo yarn base and our popular Targhee spinning fibre.

We hope this special colourway inspires cozy projects and brings a touch of winter magic to your creations!

There is something special about opening that box of holiday decor and finding those handmade treasures waiting inside. They are often sentimental and carry the magic of the season. Many of these little treasures use only the smallest amount of yarn. In fact, most can be made entirely from scraps, leftovers that might otherwise sit untouched.

With that in mind, we gathered a few favourite projects from the SweetGeorgia team in our latest blog post, Turn Simple Scraps into Handmade Holiday Decor!

Whether you keep these items for your own home or share them as last-minute gifts, we hope you enjoy the process and fill each piece with memories that will last for years to come.

There is something truly special about having a handwoven runner at the centre of your dining table when you welcome friends and family for a meal. Home-cooked dishes, soft candlelight, and the sounds of glasses meeting in celebration all gather around this simple piece of cloth. It feels magical, because it is.

Originally designed for The Intentional Weaver course at the School of SweetGeorgia, Laura Fry created this pattern to bring together the skills, techniques, and tips she teaches throughout the course.

This month, we are celebrating Holiday Home Decor, and we wondered what might happen if we changed the palette. Find out more in our latest blog post, Welcome the Season with Handwoven Wall of Troy Table Runners!

Textured yarns have the potential to push us out of our comfort zones and spin something truly magical. Sparking our curiosity about how a textured yarn is created, we can often dive into our stash, use bits of fibre that were left from previous projects, giving them new life.

These yarns build our spinning practice in a different way from our conventional spinning. Namely, textured yarns push twist, forcing us to use the principles of twist in different ways. Not only to hold the yarn together, making a structurally stable yarn, but also to create amazing design attributes we otherwise wouldn’t think about.

In our latest blog post, Spin a Corespun Yarn that Jingles All The Way, Rachel Smith takes us step-by-step on how to spin this festive yarn using bells, beads, or whatever you can imagine!
