Things I'm currently working on: a short-row colourwork scarf. This is from Short-Row Colorwork Knitting by Woolly Wormhead. The pattern is Parallelism by Karie Westermann. This is a fascinating book that allows you to learn a new technique. We usually use short-rows for shaping but this goes further by adding colourwork. It's very interesting. I am already loving the scarf and I have only completed one full pattern repeat. If you are interested in learning more, come by the store because I would love to share this technique!

We did a workshop in February for Flax Sweater. Here's one of the completed sweaters! Our customer Linda used Sirdar Loveful Tweed to make hers. She did a wonderful job on it! If I have the interest, I will run another workshop. It's a fun sweater to do for a first top down project.

Over the March Break I offered free lessons for youth in the area. I wanted to encourage crafting and wasn't sure if it would work. It has been great! I had a young lady in on Wednesday and two more this morning. Here's Morgan and Lydia learning this morning. I'm glad I did this because I believe everyone should have a chance to learn. I usually charge for lessons but I figured this was a good way to introduce knitting and crocheting to a younger audience. I was also asked about a summer camp and I will have to think about that but I love the idea. I'm all for everyone putting down our devices and this was something mentioned today. I admit I'm also bad with my devices. So, taking my morning to teach these young ladies was a nice little break.

Hi everyone! This March Break, I am inviting any child/youth who is interested in learning to knit to join me at the store for a lesson. I have extra yarn and needles (much from the community) and will teach the basics if they come in. There is NO COST. I'm doing this as I have had some interest from some of the kids in the village. The store is open Wednesday 10 am to 2 pm and Thursday through Saturday 10 am to 3 pm. I need to stress that we do have a Craft Group on Thursday and we may have some extra people around, but everyone is welcome. We also do not have a bathroom. Our wonderful neighbour, Food Less Travelled, does but they are across the road. I just want to share my love of knitting with everyone. This cartoon me is a great description if how I feel about the snow. We will be closed again today because we can't get out to open the store. We also don't know what the situation is at the store. I apologize for this. We will see you next week!

Out of an abundance of caution, we are going to close today because of the weather. I don't like the freezing rain that we are supposed to get before it changes to snow. I'm also hoping that because I'm being cautious that this storm won't be as bad as I think. Stay safe today and hopefully we'll make it into the store tomorrow!
