Something deeply moving happened today on the last day of Hudson’s Bay at Mayfair Mall.
An elderly gentleman came into the store and handed me this special keepsake — a commemorative medal from 1970, given to his mother by Hudson’s Bay for the company’s 300th anniversary. He told me, “My mom worked for Hudson’s Bay over 60 years ago. She treasured this. She’s passed now, and today, I want to give it to you — as a gift — because this place is closing, and I know it meant something to you, too.”
I was overwhelmed with emotion and couldn’t hold back my tears. This unexpected act of kindness and connection touched my heart so deeply.
Hudson’s Bay was my first job in Canada, and it always felt like family. Now, this beautiful piece of history will forever remind me of the legacy of the company, the people I met, and the moments that shaped my journey here.
This medal is more than just a keepsake — it’s a symbol of shared stories, hard work, and love across generations. I’ll cherish it always.
Thank you, Hudson’s Bay — you’ll always be a part of my heart and my Canadian story. 🇨🇦💛
