Hi! For those of you that don’t know me, I’d like to officially introduce myself. I’m Abbey 👋🏼🌻

My fiancé (Erik) and I co-own this business together. I am in charge of the landscaping, and eventually Horticultural Therapy, side of things. So that makes me the one that gets to lead our amazing, hardworking team of women around PEC!

Side note - I can’t wait to watch these Blue Arrow Junipers thrive in their new home alongside some of the most beautiful, mature Japanese Maples I’ve ever seen!🌲

Having a hard time adding dimension to your shade garden? 💭 Read on!👇🏼💡

One of my key players to mix things up amongst the usual Hostas and Heucheras is variegated Hakone Grass. It is clump forming, and has a unique and airy texture that pops beautifully alongside your Hostas! Pair with a silvery blue Hosta such as Diamond Lake or Halcyon to be blown away 🙌🏼

Other shade loving favourites found in this garden include Concord Grape Spiderwort, Ivory Bleeding Hearts, Mars Astilbe, and variegated Brunnera 🌿

There are just a few more finishing touches still to go, but this client wanted a lush look right off the bat while the Yews, Hydrangeas, and Euonymuses take their time to fill in. How do you think we did? 🤗

How do you celebrate a massive pile of leaves? Like you’re a kid again. That’s the only way! 🤠🍂

Also celebrating an end to a very full and successful season! Huge thanks to all the PEC locals who chose us to beautify their homes and businesses this season. While we are very ready for some rest, we can’t wait to get back at it spring 2022! ✨🌸

Also a massive shoutout to our one and only employee, Lana, who absolutely killed it every day this season alongside me through the long, sweaty August days, and the chilly and dark November days! Could not have done it with her 👏🏼🌟

Side note - if you’re looking for a super fun, active, and creative job, learning about plants and sustainable landscape design with the coolest boss 😉 for next spring hit us up! 📲

WLH is looking for a passionate gardener to join our small team! We are on a mission to beautify PEC's outdoor spaces, and help people enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.

You'll be working with kind and supportive people, primarily under me (Abbey - lead landscaper) to help you learn everything about soft-landscape design. The job involves weeding, trimming, planting, transplanting, assisting with order pickup/dropoff, and tool maintenance and cleaning. You will occasionally use consumer level power tools such as an electric hedge trimmer.

The hours are flexible, and work can continue into the fall season.

The ideal candidate for this position does not need to have horticultural experience, although it would be beneficial. We are looking for someone with the following characteristics:
- 18yrs+
- Physically able
- Solid work ethic and determined
- Interested in growing knowledge of plants
- Active communicator
- Asks necessary questions to help fullfil the task to their best ability
- Can provide their own transportation
- Enjoys the outdoors
- Has a positive and easygoing attitude
- Has never knowingly littered

This spring we installed multiple Thuja X Cedar hedges for privacy and noise deadening reasons. We spaced them in two rows, with ~6ft spacing which is abit close to the trees liking but will create a more dense hedge, and the customer doesn't need to utilize the full height the trees are capable of.
Recently we implemented the last stage of the work which is the automated drip irrigation to help these trees really take off, and grow at their high rate. Deez trees have been observed to grow 3-4 feet per year, and will ultimately reach 60ft tall if not trimmed back. Although we have been blessed with some great rains in July, this drip irrigation will assist the roots during the likely dryer weather of August. ⛅
