Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, friends! 🍁
Dahlia season officially ended last evening for me after I tucked the last tuber into storage. It’s been a crazy season with ups, downs, and tons of new things to learn, but overall, it’s been good!
Thank-you to everyone for following along with dahlia season 2026; I couldn’t be doing all this without each and every one of you!

Friends! This is my view.every.single.day. I am partially buried in tubers, but alive and well and drinking more cherry coke and iced lattes than I should be allowed to.
If you are struggling with splitting your tubers, I have pinned my three part reel of how I do it. Simply find the reels section on my page, and they will all be pinned at the top. The reason they’re in three parts? Facebook doesn’t let me talk for three minutes straight on a reel like Instagram does so I had to split them all up.
And always, if you’re really struggling, just send me a DM and I will do my best to get back to you!

I usually have 110 ideas happening all at the same time, HOWEVER, this one is near and dear to my heart! Some dahlias just aren’t equipped for Saskatchewan living. And if they do live, they definitely don’t thrive. So one of my goals is to grow as many dahlia seeds as humanly possible, (this will definitely spark concern for my mother and her basement filled with grow lights) and only select seedlings that seem to thrive in Saskatchewan. I purposely am slightly mean to my first year seedlings to see how they cope; and honestly, some die off in the beginning which I’m fine with. I would love to introduce a Saskatchewan grown dahlia line into the dahlia world some day!
This first year seedling caught my eye the other day! So far it has survived a massive heat wave after getting planted into the field, pest pressure, and frost. Imma give it a second year; it has fought to get to this point!

This is what 101 years of Francis farming looks like! 💯
Unbeknown to anyone, I sent in an application for a centennial farm award this past winter. I then promptly forgot about it for months. Yesterday, this plaque came in the mail, and I surprised my grandpa with it!
The history part of things? My great-grandfather, Clarence, homesteaded this very farm that I grow dahlias on! Last year my grandpa told me that it had been 100 years since his dad received the deed to this land. So of course I thought, “Why not see if I can get the Centennial Award for this farm?” Well, then I had to wait for applications to reopen since they only have them open for part of the year. Lo and behold, the farm qualified, and here we are today!
So there’s the history of the Francis’s farmland!
Here’s to another 100 years! 😉

I managed to find a few Czarny Charakter blooms that are untouched from frost. I’m sorry, but I love this dahlia, and I can’t not love it! 🖤

When a bride messages me with a vision for her bridal bouquet, you know I’m gonna go out and hack and chop on whatever plants I feel like to see the vision come to life. 😉 The little pop of black is a small nod towards her engagement ring which just so happens to be black.
Also, I do not provide any wedding flowers! This was strictly for an out of province Instagram follower to see her vision come to life!

💐 This was one of my favourite bouquets from this season! I hardly had any time to put together any bouquets for fun this year, but this was one that I put together last minute as the sun was setting.

✨ Golden hour in the dahlia field before the frost hit last night.
After careful inspection, majority of the tops of my plants are cooked. It was a pretty blooming season while it lasted!
