I guess I can understand why my Christmas Cactus is blooming now. Although spring arrived according to the calendar last week it is currently snowing in Whitehorse and it is still cold enough in the morning that I put on my fur coat when I take the dog out first thing. It has been a long winter. Good news is that there is plenty of snow on the ski hill!!

Getting ready for Bethanne Nemesh’s Breaking Boundaries with Blended Quilts course that begins in June. This was a good refresher on sewing curved seams. 3-4 more tops to complete so I can practice new longarm quilting techniques using Bethanne’s lessons.

My version of Postcard from Sweden and two other quilts made from the “scraps” from the kit. Quilted on my Millie. I feel as though I have learned a lot and I am a better custom quilter now.

About half of the top of the quilt is shown. Narrow top and bottom and one wide side border to go.

First side border is complete. Next will quilt the narrow border then on to the main part of the top. But first Abbey the Sheltie says time for a walk in yesterday’s fresh snow.

This is my version of Strawberries and Chocolate by Bethanne Nemish. I took the online course using my new White Arbour rulers and learned so much. I call my quilt Blue Hearts in the Window. Custom quilting is so much fun and quite addictive!

I would never have chosen these colours but it came together nicely. Pantograph is Vienna with Shell colour thread by Glide. This quilt is another made by Quilters Without Borders who donate quilts to the Yukon Hospital.

I was so pleased to quilt this lovely autumn themed top for Lorraine McRae. Lorraine’s piecing is meticulous and fabric choices are lovely.
