It’s been an eventful week for me, so I’ve been thankful that the forecast has been consistently calling for rain for tomorrow. While it is still uncertain if we will hold another market before the summer officially ends, I wanted to share this lovely article that was written about the Artists Alley Market and why I wanted such a market to exist. If you don’t want to read the article, the takeaway is that AI really is alienating us further, and this market was created as a way to embrace human creation and connection while lingering a little longer in the downtown Windsor area. What I would like to point out is that endeavours like this wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the humans behind them, pushing for these needed connections. A big thanks needs to go to Events that Linger for being an inspiration to push for these connections and help bring people together in a meaningful way. And a huge thank you to Windsor Township Business Association for partnering up and providing us with music, and to Windsor Makers Studio for the continuous encouragement. ❤️

Breaking free from AI art while creating community connection is what the new Artist Alley Market in Windsor aims to do.

This week has been eventful for me, so I’m thankful that there has been rain consistently forecasted for tomorrow. In the meantime, here’s an article about the Artists Alley Market and how it came to be! (If it’s a TL;DR situation, here you go: AI slop is gross and further alienates us all).

Breaking free from AI art while creating community connection is what the new Artist Alley Market in Windsor aims to do.

🌟 Red Oaks Collaborations Saturday! 🌟

This week we are excited to introduce Judy, the creator and owner of Handmade in Lakelands. For the past few years Judy has taken her hobby and turned it into her own small business, providing a variety macrame pieces that you are able to purchase from different vendors that support local businesses.
Handmade in Lakelands began as a hobby and a way to keep idle hands busy. What started as an activity to help calm the mind has greatly evolved into more and has been shared with the community for over 3 years now. You can find Handmade in Lakelands at a variety of markets throughout as well as in places like Brooklyn Village Garden Centre and Windsor Makers Studio.
Handmade in Lakelands is not only supported by local but also supports local. Their outdoor plant hangers are made with Schooner Line and Rope which is not only incredibly strong but also produced locally in Lunenburg County.
If you are in need of some new macrame pieces check out Handmade in Lakelands!

Supporting small businesses is essential for fostering a vibrant local economy, and we believe in the power of collaboration. If you know of any other small businesses that could benefit from a shout-out or partnership, don’t hesitate to reach out! Together, we can help each other grow and succeed.

Let’s uplift our community and make a difference! 💪✨

My heart is so incredibly full following this evening’s Artist Alley Market, and I am so thankful to each and every one of you who made it happen. This evening felt extra special- we had some beautiful fiddle music being played by Cara Sawka, who was later joined by Dawn Allen and Pan Snow— they played beautifully, which inspired a young new fiddler to play some notes! It was wonderful. We had some folks dancing, lots of bubbles, and some great conversations with lots of different community members. A big thank you to all of the vendors and artisans who came out tonight and made it such a special evening.

Thank you to Windsor Township for providing us with the music and for all of the support. Thank you to this wonderful community of ours for continuing to support local- I have so much love in my heart for all of you ❤️✌️

Here we go folks- the last Artists Alley Market of August (and possibly the summer- stay tuned). One last chance to gather before the school routines set back in, linger below the beautiful Ivy that’s growing between Tatum's Fashions & Bridal and Classy Cards , and take in some great conversations while appreciating local makers and growers. No AI- just human connection (and some great laughs, usually!). This week we will have live music (thank you Windsor Township !) from Guy & Doll, and we will be featuring a new youth vendor- Shelly’s Melted Creations! We will also see Love and a Passport Courtney Red Shire Farm Sara Rose Bushey Jocelyn Lahey IronPonyCrochet Pottery by Eli (from Makers Studio & Art Market ) Pattersons Market Garden and myself (Handmade in Lakelands ) Looking forward to seeing you all!!

Please note: There is an Out Together bowling event sponsored by West Hants Pride🏳️‍🌈 tomorrow evening from 6pm-8pm, so some of our vendors may wander off a little bit early…. I will be one of those vendors 😅 If you are interested in attending, follow along with West Hants Pride🏳️‍🌈 to find out more information and how to register!

Alright, let’s try this again! 😉 This Thursday (depending on the weather) we will be gathering in the alley between Classy Cards and Tatum's Fashions & Bridal for our Artists Alley Market. The goal of this market has been to bring artists, makers, and growers together with our wonderful community and strengthening those connections. Though we mostly may have made the farmers happy with the amount of rain we have gotten on these Summer Thursdays, when we have been able to meet, it has been incredibly special 🥰

This week we will see Mindful Marrow Courtney Red Shire Farm Pottery by Eli from Makers Studio & Art Market Sara Rose Bushey Flock & Tallow Co. Handmade in Lakelands and some youth vendors! Myriam will also be back to draw pet portraits on the spot and Shutter & Seafoam Photography will be ready to take that updated family picture that you’ve been meaning to get done.

Come support local and spend the evening with us in Windsor Township - No AI, just human connection 🥰✌️
