The living area of dreams 💕

When we were approached to work on this custom build home, we were handed floor plans that was functional BUUUUUTTTTT could be so much better.

The old floor plan showed a dining area without any windows, as well as a small miniscule window placed in the kitchen area - in a conspicuous area between the uppers and counter. I mean, can you imagine?! The loss potential of natural light flooding the space? The annoying window interrupting the beautiful backsplash?! The interior designer in us won’t let that happen!

One of the first things we did was to suggest a few edits on the floor plan - one of them was to DELETE the window in the kitchen (yes, how dare we…) and ADD full height windows in the dining area. And the result - the living area of dreams 😻

This kitchen island has the best of both worlds. One side has cupboards, which is essential for a tidy looking kitchen. But the other has open shelving - perfect for providing a home for smaller objects and prettier pieces of crockery that you want to showcase.

Not your average house - and we love it! This client has the most colourful personality and it shows. We laughed about the colours we picked together, how the bright yellow tiles matches his bright yellow Kitchenaid mixer, and how his bubba commented “oh, interesting choice” on the lemon curtains hanging on the bright pink walls. 💛
