Sometimes simple, unprocessed real food is best. 3 tablespoons of yogurt, blueberries, strawberries and half a pear. Low cal, surprising amount of protein and utterly delicious and nutritious.

For me growing my own food has become intrinsically linked to the food that I cook, share, and consume myself.
Although I’ve been cooking for decades, this is the first year I’ve had a vegetable and herb garden.
I’ve been befuddled. I’ve been
stymied, but I persevered through several re-seeding episodes in the beginning of the season. I have learned patience. I have learned to w**d, and I have learned to over-seed in all cases.
It’s indoors, it’s outdoors, it’s part of my life now and I’ll continue through the winter.
Overall, the bounty of my garden has been plentiful and it pleases me greatly to know I’ll be feeding my friends and family well into the fall.

I believe I’ve told you about my basil bombs. I make them by freezing basil in olive oil in ice cube trays. If you’re gonna use cooking oil, this is a great way of infusing it with herbolicious goodness. Also harvesting my first sprout crop this morning so that’s coming right out of the jar and into my omelette. Let’s call this morning’s Omelette a mushroom cheese and sprout basil bomb.

Today I tried out the basil bombs I made last week. Popped one out of the Ice cube tray and started my omelette with it. If you're cooking with oil this just adds an extra herb zing to whatever you are cooking. This article explains the simple process. I'm thinking of doing the same with my unruly planter of oregano.

There's nothing better than fresh garden herbs to add savory flavor to your favorite recipes. One favorite garden herb, by far, is basil. It's easy to grow, and even easier to add to recipes in the summer. But did you know you can freeze it and have "basil bombs" at the ready to use in recipes all w...

I’ve lived in my beautiful River Heights home for almost 5 years now, but I’ve never really enjoyed my yard like I have this year. The last couple of years I languished in the basement hiding from the forest fire smoke.
I’ve made some healthy choices in the last year, losing weight, exercising for the first time ever, and after a winter of growing indoor lettuce I started my first vegetable garden.
I now start the Zen of my day every morning breakfasting with my pots of potential, enjoying every sip of my coffee in the cool morning breeze and thankful for the joy we bring to ourselves.
Peace to all.
