The indomitable Sea Shack, taking a brutal beating from a frothy storm. I made this a piece a few years ago, and I always like to think someone is in the shack, having a cup of tea, enjoying the storm. - Greg

Doodle Dump!

It’s Maureen, and my many random creations. Greg and I haven’t made much art since September. Once October hit we began our market season prep and then market season started and then Christmas came and then finally a studio reno…it’s been a lot! I’ve missed creating art a lot, and honestly I’ve been in an art making rut too. Trying to find my creativity again through play, no expectation or plans. Enjoy some of the random drawings, paintings and attempted sculptures I’ve done these past few weeks!

1. A Still Life from our kitchen - I’m obsessed with these colours
2. Fried Eggs - I wanted to know what eggs painted with blue would look/feel like
3. Self-Portrait - an extremely quick doodle from my anxious brain of my anxious self
4. Fox Head - I sculpted a wolf head…it looks more like a fox AND it cracked, so its just a good lesson on sculpting and material choices
5. Bunny Head - just something my fingers wanted to create from clay
6. Toothpick Cup - a gift for Greg’s desk as he always likes a toothpick on hand, made from air dry clay and acrylic paint

Happy Thursday!

Hey all! [Reposting due to missing audio!]

We know we’ve been really quiet since Christmas, but we are finally ready to share the results of our art studio renovation! We are so happy with how things turned out, it feels like we FINALLY have a proper headquarters to CREATE, filled with fun, happy, retro art vibes! We had no idea how many random side quests this basement would take us on, we had a lot of late nights (a lot!) and more than a few hiccups along the way. We replaced our broken wood stove with a new propane one (last winter was VERY cold down here), had new flooring and baseboards installed, hooked up new lighting and thermostats, installed a new door and new knobs/hardware, converted the old closet into the now, aptly named “Nerd Nook” to house our geeky treasures, filled a lot of holes in the walls and added a much needed fresh coat of paint from top to bottom. Just committing to our bold paint colour choice was hard!

Maureen now has a new space to store her art supplies for easy use, and we installed a new woodworking station for Greg, along with an updated print/recycle/ garbage station and an updated packing area for preparing our orders.

It was so much work and took far longer than we thought it would, but we are really thrilled to have this space to create our art. Now it’s time to get to work on all our projects that have been waiting for us! Thanks for watching!
