CONGRATULATIONS TO MANITOBA AUTHOR JOHN WARMS! GLOBAL RECOGNITION! ✨🌎💫🌟🏆 2026 WINNER in the MULTICULTURAL CATEGORY, Recognized by the Literary Global Children's Book Awards.

He is also nominated for another award in the Historical Fiction Category and a Margaret McWilliams Award!

In the mid-1900s, small airplanes began to fly people to distant lakes in Canada’s North. One small family returned to their favourite commercial fishing camp on the bank of a Manitoba lake. Only this year was different. This time, a baby girl joined her grandparents and older sister, Marlene. Could that be why an unusual visitor appeared in their camp one day?

The Girl Who Met Sasquatch is based on the real-life account of my friend, Marlene. I first met Marlene at an outdoor station as we waited to catch the train to Pukatawagan, Manitoba. During our journey she shared the story of her extraordinary childhood experience with me. From the start, I imagined it would make a captivating children’s book. Nearly two decades of inspiring meetings and phone calls resulted in this illustrated narrative. ~John Warms

The Girl Who Met Sasquatch is masterfully illustrated by John Warms' granddaughter, Breanna Warms.

Imagination is a great thing-it enables you to take random things and create works of art. To paint things of beauty on a blank canvas, stitch unique items from scraps of material or yarn, to craft something interesting from a old branch.
There is no limit to what can be done when you have imagination. And when you step into the the front foyer of the Wolseley Gallery that’s what you immediately see- a place full of items created by people with great imaginations. Come see for yourself 🤗
