Voici le costume qui m'a occupée une bonne partie de l'année passée 😊.
Une amie m'a fait l'honneur de me commander sa robe de mariage pour la cérémonie religieuse. La robe est basée sur des sources de la fin du 13e et début 14e siècles (nous faisons partie de la même association de reconstitution de cette période), majoritairement la Bible de Maciejowski et le Codex Manesse.
Elle est composée d'une chemise en lin (non visible, c'est le sous-vêtement), d'une cotte en laine écru et d'un surcot en laine bleue. Les manches de la cotte, celles du surcot ainsi que le bas du surcot sont brodées à la main, au point Herringbone (ou chausson) jaune or et avec du fil bronze qui vient faire des entrelacs.
L'ensemble est complété par un voile en lin blanc et une cape avec capuche en loden bleu. Le tour complet de la cape est brodé avec le même point que sur la cotte et le surcot.

Here is the main work of the past year, the one which took me a lot of time 😊.
A friend honored me by ordering her wedding dress for the religious ceremony. The dress is based from historical sources of late 13th and early 14th centuries (as we are both members of a historical re-enactment association), mainly the Maciejowski Bible and the Codex Manesse.
There are three parts for the dress : we have first a chemise made of linen (not showed here, it's the underwear). We have then the woolen cotte in white, and finally the woolen surcoat in blue. Both the sleeves edges of the cotte and the surcoat and the surcoat's bottom are hand embroidered with Herringbone stitch, made of golden wool, and I added a bronze thread interwoven in the stitch.
There is also a white linen veil and a hooded cape made of blue loden, and all the borders of the cape and its hood are hand embroidered with the very same stitch used on the cotte and the surcoat.
