From sketchbook studies to a finished notebook design.

While on vacation, I spent a few quiet afternoons painting seashells I collected during beach walks. I was fascinated by their textures, subtle color variations, and intricate patterns.

Back in the studio, these watercolor studies inspired a coastal collection filled with seashells, sandy neutrals, and memories of slow summer days by the sea.

Seeing my artwork come to life on products like this notebook is always a special moment.

Would you use a notebook like this for journaling, sketching, or planning your next adventure?

A few quiet afternoons, a sketchbook, and a handful of seashells.

While on vacation, I spent some time slowing down and painting the little treasures I found along the shore. There’s something so relaxing about observing the colors, textures, and tiny details of each shell and bringing them to life with watercolor.

These shell studies eventually inspired a coastal collection that reminds me of sunny beach walks and salt air.

The pouch shown in this reel is the small beauty case, perfect for keeping everyday essentials organized. It’s also available in a larger size if you need a little extra room.

Do you collect seashells when you’re at the beach?

What started as a few seashells collected on the beach became an entire pattern collection.

During my vacation, I spent a few quiet afternoons sketching and painting shells from life. I love taking the time to study the tiny textures, shapes, and color variations that make each shell unique.

Back in my studio, I turned these watercolor studies into a seamless coastal pattern inspired by beach walks, salty air, and summer memories.

Seeing my illustrations come to life on products like this pouch is always one of my favorite parts of the creative process.

Would you use this as a makeup bag, travel pouch, or something else?

Every pattern starts with observation.

While on vacation, I collected a few seashells and spent time sketching and painting them in my sketchbook. Instead of working from photos, I love studying real objects the textures, tiny imperfections, and subtle color shifts are what bring illustrations to life.

These watercolor shell studies eventually became a seamless coastal pattern inspired by slow beach walks, sun-bleached treasures, and summer memories.

Most people bring home seashells as souvenirs. I bring them home as painting references.

During our walks by the ocean, I collected a few shells that caught my eye and spent some time studying their shapes, textures, and colors in my sketchbook.

Before I create a surface pattern, I like to build a library of hand-painted motifs. Taking the time to observe the tiny details the ridges, shadows, and subtle color variations helps make the final artwork feel more natural and authentic.

These watercolor studies may look simple, but they’re an important part of my creative process. Every finished pattern starts with small moments like these.

Do you prefer collecting shells, flowers, or other natural treasures for inspiration?

From watercolor sketches on my balcony to an actual phone case!

This watercolor lemon pattern started with painting individual lemons, blossoms and leaves by hand before turning everything into a seamless repeat pattern.

One of my favorite things about surface pattern design is seeing artwork leave the sketchbook and become something real that you can use every day.

And yes this lemon phone case is finally available in my shop
