Starting over in a country I don't even know how long I'll stay in is teaching me how to do groceries again. Getting losy walking home, relying on Google maps every time I leave the house.

But being bad at something new isn't going backwards. It's just what the beginning looks like.

You're allowed to be okay in the middle. Not fixed, not finished, not "healed" - just okay, here, today, still figuring out. The whole idea that you have to reach somewhere before you're allowed to feel alright is a lie that keeps you waiting.

Married by 30. The house. The kids. The business or you'll miss the train.
Nobody asked if you wanted any of it. It was just handed to you, and you were told it was yours.
So you spent years measuring your life against a list you never agreed to. Feeling behind. Feeling like you missed something.
But what jd you didn't fall behind? What if you were just running someone else's race?
I'm 36. I have none of it. I'm writing my own.
