This beautiful farmhouse in Switzerland had a story — one written over decades, through renovations by both the current and past owners. But like many older homes, the bathrooms had been left behind… untouched for almost 30 years.
They were small, dark, and dated — spaces that felt forgotten in a home full of potential.
When I stepped in, my goal was to honor the farmhouse’s rustic charm while bringing in a sense of calm, cohesion, and casual luxury.
The shiplap detailing found throughout the house inspired me to carry it right into the bathrooms — something that isn’t so common here in Switzerland, but with a bit of advocacy (and the right builder), we made it happen beautifully.
We layered textures and tones to create spaces that felt both old-world and fresh. The dark blue lime wash paint added depth and serenity, and when paired with warm, stone-colored tiles and handmade rustic floor tile, it brought a hint of a Hammam spa — a retreat, right at home.
Most importantly, this project was deeply collaborative. I supported my client in navigating material choices, communicating with contractors, and understanding the “why” behind every design detail. It’s a partnership I’m incredibly proud of — and the result is a home that feels like them.
