Last Saturday, Enea Outside In welcomed a full house for The World of Geoffrey Bawa, a Panel Talk & Networking Apéritif as part of Zurich Design Weeks. Together with the guests, we explored Bawa’s philosophy of “seamless living”—the art of dissolving the boundaries between landscape, architecture, and interior spaces.

Enea Outside In in Zurich presents the Swiss premiere of the Geoffrey Bawa Furniture Collection by Indian furniture maker Phantom Hands.

As the exclusive distributor of the Geoffrey Bawa Furniture Collection in German-speaking Switzerland, the interior design studio and store presents a curated selection of pieces in a setting where furniture becomes part of a broader dialogue between nature, architecture, and interior design.

At Enea Outside In, furniture is a natural extension of Enea’s Outside In philosophy, where landscape and interiors are conceived as one continuous experience, an approach that strongly resonates with Geoffrey Bawa’s own vision.

While Geoffrey Bawa is often associated with the early waves of modern design in Sri Lanka, his true legacy lies in a nuanced approach that placed climate, context, and local materials at the absolute center. Coinciding with the opening of the exhibition “Geoffrey Bawa: Architecture for the Senses” at the Vitra Design Museum (26.09.2026–28.02.2027), this marks the Swiss premiere of the Geoffrey Bawa Furniture Collection by Phantom Hands.

The Bentota Lounge Chair, designed by Geoffrey Bawa for the iconic Bentota Beach Hotel in Sri Lanka in the late 1960s.

Inspired by the traditional verandah armchair, Bawa reinterpreted the classic with an open, relaxed silhouette made for tropical living. Today, Phantom Hands brings this piece of design history back to life, preserving its distinctive character while refining it for contemporary comfort.

Now on display in our showroom at Outside In, Zürich.

Light shapes how we experience a space.

For Enea, lighting is not simply about illumination — it is about creating atmosphere, defining proportions and bringing architecture, materials and nature together.

The Johnson Kelly Floor Lamp by BassamFellows is a beautiful example of this approach. Originally designed by Philip Johnson and Richard Kelly for the Glass House in the 1950s, its pure form and soft, sensual light were conceived as an integral part of the architecture around it.

Today, the design is reissued by BassamFellows, bringing this timeless relationship between light, space and architecture into contemporary interiors.
