From the architect. One of the issues that emerged during the design process of this building was how to insert it in a peaceful rural landscape and how it interacts with the animals living in such a context. The concept of this project is to suspend a thin cover on a natural hill, equip it with furniture and in this way create a place where people and animals can meet under its shade.
The facade is made of transparent acrylic sheets on all four sides of the building, allowing the residents to get closer to nature while keeping the house warm due to this material’s high thermal insulation capability. Inside, the spaces are softly divided by expanded metal curved sheets allowing people to hang something or lean on it. These see-through partitions become guidelines for the furniture layout, and induce the residents to align things on it keeping the building tidy. This building uses light materials and organic shape interior dividers to further enhance its relationship with the landscape.
The space is composed by multiple levels with a maximum difference in height of 1000 mm that allows installing no handrails. Utilities and storage space are hidden under these levels, resulting in a very clean ground floor. The facilities’ floor level is partially underground to assure more privacy allowing the residents to see the sky only. At the same time, in the kitchen space, the level difference becomes a joint between the countertop and the ground, making it possible for a deer to stare at the residents preparing meals.
By extending the eaves equally, as much as the height of the acrylic facade, the thermo environment inside is improved and a shade is made outside, inducing the people to use the spaces inside and outside of the building in different ways according to the seasons and the hour of the day, blending their lifestyles into nature.

House In Juso
In the concept for this small house in the vicinity of Aldeia de Juso, the tiniest area of flat land and the house’s, as well as the high density of the new houses yet to be built in the surroundings, forcibly draw us to some sort of “obsession” about the possibilities of dilating space.nUnderlying this question, the importance of “expanding” the outdoor space becomes a particular central aspect, since it is also a building integrated in a semi-rural area, where people go looking for the experience of inhabiting garden or open yard spaces. We propose, after all, to solve and clarify the question, by widening to the maximum the inhabitable premises in their global scope, both in the vertical and horizontal referentials, in both interior and exterior. The building has been thus structured in three floors, spatially related in profile, each level having specific and different characteristics. In Level -1, the areas are laid out (as the regulations so demand) under the contour of the ground level. However, this idea of “imposed limits” is to be questioned through the means of “distensions” and “advancements”, to be operated in the three possible directions (north, east and west), shaped as yards and pool. In this floor there will also be included work and service areas. On the ground level, the limits for the “precincts”, appears widened and defined by the walls around the lot. The inner space is freely configured. Consistent with the strategy of maximizing the presence of the gardened outdoor space, the garage is then left aside to an “inserted” area to the south of the kitchen. All the social spaces of the building are located on this floor. On the upper floor resides what is the most significant expression of this project. Until the maximum limits allowed by the regulations, was shaped a kind of enclosure of opaque lines encompassing the bedrooms and their respective yards, thus expanding the enjoyable areas and protecting their necessary intimacy. On the roof level, an accessible terrace finally liberates the eye over a 360º view of the surrounding houses, the sea or the beautiful mountains of Sintra.

Although we don’t spend much time in bedroom ,it still the most important one , as it is place of rest and sleeping . So its design must be suitable for comfortable and quiet sleeping ,and also goes along with new fashions.
How can you catch up all these advantages? , let’s see.
The interior designers see that the white color with all its degrees can fit for bedroom paint ,either creamy , bright beige ,off white or pastel pink ,and recently they use some schemes opts like shiny apricot and peach for interesting look . But the big surprise this year is white and black combination for many reasons . The first one , these two sharp colors give the room an elegant and fashionable appearance , also their contrast reflect different feeling ,happiness and sadness , clarity and ambiguity etc . Secondly the white color act as a perfect background ,while the black can be used as a focal point or in highlight different details , they also can be accented with other colors like red , yellow, gold, green , etc which add a marvelous appearance . This combination is renewable and not fixed , so you can make some changes in the future with low costs .
Here you are some ideas to use white and black combination in a perfect manner for the design of bedroom :

1- For the small size room , the walls and ceiling must be painted with white color which give it wider look ,then you can accessorize it with shiny black focal points which take the eyes , like light fixtures , paints , large clocks ….. and so on.
2- For the curtains , it prefer to be white with simple luxurious and draping manner to allow entrance of the day light .
3- low beds and floating beds with futon style are used nowadays instead of old highly craved one . You can use white cotton linens with black and white striped bedding and pillows in different fabrics . Throw out many pillows with different colors and drawing to give exciting look.
4- You can also add small comfortable black chair and lush terry rug that can highlight the room . You can also freely add any other thing to your room and it will be in match.

The site the community decided to develop for a kindergarten for 30 children is one of the nicest in the village. It is a vacant lot at the historical village green with a view to the river and a corresponding area for a garden. The basic vision was to situate the kindergarten in the vicinity, in symbiosis with the country and village. The formal concept was developed complying with the historical concept of vernacular architecture. Colour and material design builds on the local genius loci reflected in the ´earthy´ character of the building. In terms of abstraction, the building is based on the concept of a classic country house with a hip roof. Vernacular elements are also used on the façade that is rich with statuary referring to decorativeness of traditional architecture in the area. The sculptor is Jiri Vorel who has personal bond to this location. The kindergarten in Dobrin is a return to the world of fairy-tales, to the world of children. It respects their visions and wishes; it should resemble a small ´cottage´ that provides a harmony, warmth, and possibility to have a good romp. The spatial concept of the interior layout works with openness as much as possible and identifies itself as different compared with usually sterile Czech kindergartens. A child can scrawl over a wall and not suffer for doing so. A child becomes the master of the space it may freely transform. No rules exist ordering how the space should be treated, just a framework whose atmosphere the users establish for themselves. The kindergarten will keep on developing and transforming following this concept of understanding. The kindergarten is surrounded by a garden with fruit trees positioned parallel with the east border of the lot. It is a one-story building of a rectangular footprint. The roof is a distinguished architectural and identifying element. At the north side, it is a classical hip roof with a pitch 35°; towards the south, it slowly pitches down towards one wall. Rafters are timber; the structure reflects the span. Approximately 8 m from the north gable the pitch abruptly changes establishing a clerestory window letting southern daylight in the children’s playroom. Where possible, the interior opens up to the attic below the rafters. The roof is decked elsewhere in the attic. The building meets conditions for a construction in an inundation area. This concept projects in the technical design and selected materials as well as the interior concept. The building is founded on mass-concrete continuous strips and isolated footings. Vertical outer and internal loadbearing walls are ceramic block to resist potential flooding. Interior non-bearing walls are ceramic brick. Window and door openings in vertical walls are designed to resist flooding or allowing for easy replacement for new ones. Roofing is copper colour aluminium sheet.

A weekend house, erected on an often misty, tree-covered side road. Mirroring Corbusier’s cabanon style, this forest hut has been conceived as a haven for routine, a hideaway place to get in contact with nature. We sought to play with the hut’s iconic image by making it resemble a child’s drawing of a house, creating thus a formal tension between the object and its representation. The overly large openings and the oak waste revetment assert this double interpretation, both ironic and pop. Area: 132 sqm

The house is located in a 5,800m2 rural plot. The road that leads to the site submerges you into the natural landscape where stone, wood, clay and local flora take the center stage. The irregular site is 70 meters higher than the river area, becoming a great natural balcony of the mountains/valley and the lush vegetation surrounding it. Choosing an exact location was challenging nevertheless, it led to a solution of two independent volumes articulated by a garden lined up with the existing trees and the valley. The constructions are elements that keep in harmony with the environment, one can walk around each individual element, therefore each volume loses the front-back effect. This distribution in two blocks allows the users to have constant connection with nature and outdoor activities: hammocks area, fire area, and a playground area, gazebo, and swimming pool are surrounded by greenery and an orchard. Surrounded by agricultural fields, the program of the house was solved by using a minimum area, in order to maximize the area for agricultural purposes and outdoor activities. The living room, dining room and kitchen are located in a 68 m2 area sheltered by a tall volume, large window screens assure natural light and cross ventilation. The 67 m2 lower volume has a distribution hall leading to 3 bedrooms, an attic, 2 bathrooms and the terrace. This distribution leaves plenty of space for outside activities. builder with local knowledge of traditional techniques was selected for the construction phase. It was very important to use the natural resources available on site, as also a great opportunity to highlight conservation by using sustainable materials that blend unobtrusively with the landscape. Stone, adobe, eucalyptus and cane were amongst the materials used. A large curved dry-stone interior and exterior wall gives shape to the high and low volumes on the East side. The transversal walls were built with adobes which were made in-situ and used to delimit the terrace. Large stones found on site were selected and arranged in an ergonomic way during land movements. For the coating of soil ornamental plants were selected on the basis of the least water need. These plants are used as design elements, thus integrating the volumes with the landscape and making them part of it. Eucalyptus wood is the structural element that supports the ‘Carrizo’ (reed grass) sunroof in the terrace. Recycled wood is used for the floors, doors, windows, and shutters. To protect the slope between the stone wall on the west side and the upper parts of the ground, Vetiver was used, a plant with a very deep root that acts as a containing wall by controlling the erosion of the land.

A new creative platform has opened its doors, enlivening the monumental in Amsterdam. The space will host numerous events and exhibitions organized by both Frame and Foam. Alongside the events, Frame Publishers has created two retail spaces – designed by local outfit i29 – with a focus on fashion and design. The Frame Store offers a three-dimensional experience of the magazine – a creative and innovative universe that surprises and inspires. The world of Frame shows what good design can do, and is a celebration of beauty, functionality and accessibility through timeless products. The Frame Store will stage new talents, new products and new brands from various genres. Fashion, art and design sit alongside media, beauty and food. The interior of the canal-side store is just as inspiring as its innovative products. The monumentality of Zuilenzaal – an attraction in itself – has been heightened through an intervention by i29 interior architects. Transforming the space into a mirrored universe, the award-winning designers elevate and reflect its grandeur. The multiple use of mirrors throughout the monumental space stands for reflection of time and history; the old versus the new. Furthermore it represents Frame’s role reflecting on architecture, interiors and products as published in it’s magazine. Products are presented on series of single platforms with mirrored sides and black top surfaces with integrated black frames. The surfaces and products seam to float through space. The goal was to create a surreal world of reflecting elements presenting the products without interfering with the quality of the monumental environment. Two larger mirrored objects contain fitting rooms, a small art gallery and stairs that offer a different perspective for the visitors climbing them, and a surreal image for the other visitors in the shop looking only at the top half of these personages. The contradiction of this minimal and modest intervention, is that the volumes are absorbed in the existing space and seem to disappear. At the same time they are adding extreme sharpness and intensify the experience of the existing space even more than before.

The powerful and accurate quality of the medieval walls, the integrity of the fortified structure, the central position in the village, give to this artifact the most complete sense of monument. The restoration project has dealt with different aspects that conditioned the conservation, the use and the valorisation of the building: the structural instability of the walls and floors, the lack of an adequate system of connection between plans, the total absence of plant networks, degradation and precariousness of internal and external stone facings, lack of windows and adequate interior finishes, on floors and walls. The entire work has developed pursuing a dual purpose, first identifying solutions to the problems of degradation, second offering an architectonic and functional reinterpretation of the building. The project is designed to be made into two functional lots of action: with the completion of Lot 1, are now fully accessible the four halls of the central tower and the spaces of the new building C intended to services and distribution. Important intervention is certainly the inclusion of the new system of ramps and walkways, made entirely with an iron structure, which is articulated between the spaces of the central tower and the new building, connecting the various levels of the complex.Lot 2 will include the redevelopment of public space in Piazza del Borgo with the creation of a large area covered and protected to the road, in direct continuity with the new pavement of the square. With the completion of the restoration project,

Stone House:
“A residential private house for preservation that has been re-designed and planed anew in the old city. The house is an old stone building, built in the shape of the Hebrew letter “Chet” , surrounding and inner courtyard. In its original layout, it contains five levels: the wine cellar level, 3 residential levels and the upper level – balconies and outer spaces.
The planning concept included values of both preservation and renewal, while connecting between the inner and the outer and between the public and the private. The courtyard, which is an outer space, serves the function of a public space in the new house and the peripheral spaces function as the private spaces of the new house.
The Designers started the projects with the complex stage of documentation and getting acquainted with the various formative and material aspects of the site after carrying out a comprehensive stage of exposing the site. Stone walls, arches, stone niches and impressive water well were all exposed at this stage. After this stage, the plan and the different sections were consolidated. The house has an impressive vertical section and a light steel and wood bridge connects the two masses adjacent to the public space. This bridge corresponds with an original flight of stairs, which dictates the vertical circulation.
The house program includes a kitchen, salon and a dining corner on ground level. The cellar level contains storage place and a space for the landlords’ grandchildren to play in. The middle level contains a hosting unit + a toilet and a shower. In the upper level there is a sleeping and working area with attached bathroom and toilet. This space is made up of a bridge leading to the different two wings, which are also attached with balconies and outer spaces.
The upper level consists of a big balcony overlooking a magnificent view of the surroundings in general.”
