Matthias Gaul - a w**ery in the Palatinate, more precisely in the Northern Palatinate at the upper end of the German W**e Route. Where the climate is cooler, the grapes ripen later and the terroir is blessed with great limestone soils.
We have tasted three w**es and are presenting them to you today:
First, their Chardonnay. It reveals a tension that distinctly reflects the stony limestone soil from which it originates. With a rounded body, balanced structure, and delicate tannins, it offers warm, fragrant fruit notes, complemented by an invigorating minerality.
Next, the Riesling, which will captivate not only Riesling enthusiasts. It has a delicate fragrance and a fine interplay of acidity, harmoniously intertw**ed with intense fruit aromas. With some vines over 30 years old, the naturally lower yield enhances its character, while the stony, barren soil imparts a wonderfully fresh minerality.
Finally, Matthias Gaul's Sauvignon Blanc, the most elegant of the three. It features balanced notes of gooseberry and blackcurrant. Its slender, mineral style and salty undertones speak to the stony limestone soils on which it thrives.
