Prepping a painting for its new home is always a special moment. It is almost like a little magical celebration. „At Sea“ from my first collection is now at the Rhine-Main Area, Germany.

Summerdays are special and rather rare when you live in Northern Germany.

Studio time is magical and my source of energy ✨So even when the sun is out I am willing to spend time indoors to paint.

I love going to the farmers market and going by bike is a common way to get from one place to another in Germany.

My dogs love this weather and when they can, they relax in the sun. Sometimes they go on an adventure tour around the garden.

Seashell paintings in my new painting style with a more diverse colour palette. And there is more in the making. If I manage to finish 12 pieces by the end of August I might think about making a calender out of them 🐚💙📆

My three biggest game changers as an artist 🎨

The first one is my easel. When I work on paper I also use an upside-down canvas as a little workstation. It holds my paper, my paint palette, and a scrap sheet for testing colors. The storage shelf underneath is especially useful.

I always keep a container of clean water there, not for rinsing my brushes, but for thinning my paint while I'm working. I use a separate container for cleaning my brushes.

My second game changer is good lighting. My lamp is attached right next to my easel, and I can switch between warm and cool light.

My third game changer is my Sta-Wet palette. It has a sponge at the bottom and special palette paper on top, so my paints stay wet for days—and sometimes even weeks. It's perfect if you can't paint every single day because your colors are always ready to go.

Come spend a creative day with me and my family in Hamburg, Germany.

Public transportation in Germany is generally quite good, so we took the subway into Hamburg.

Our first stop was Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, a new shopping mall where cruise ships can drop off and pick up their passengers.

From there, we walked to a Korean BBQ restaurant .bbq . Each table has its own grill, plus there’s a conveyor belt carrying different dishes, and even a little train that delivers extras like rice and spring rolls right to your table.

Don’t forget to pack a rain jacket if you’re visiting Hamburg, even in July!

In the afternoon, we visited the „Markt der Möglichkeiten“ where we enjoyed live music, handmade crafts, local food specialties, and art.

We also booked a couple of workshops: We made soap while my husband learned about fermentation.

To top it all off, my daughter and I got beautiful henna tattoos .

Summer vibes ☀️💛 Even in the North of Germany summer has finally reached us. It is hot, not really my favourite temperature but I am not complaining. We primarely have bad weather here, so I have to enjoy while it lasts 😅

Watch my process of painting one of my shell paintings with acrylics and oil pastels. Find the setup I use to stay focused and happy even for long periods of time.

And one more special detail: the audio is original music composed by my husband, combined with real ocean waves recorded at the Baltic Sea in Germany. 🌊🎶
