German Kriegsbecher 1914 – 1915 For K.u.K Oficcier and Artz (Medic) in Kufstein.

This is a German Kriegsbecher 1914 – 1915 with original case.

The goblet is made or iron which is silvered. On the outside are portraitmedaillions of German emperor Wilhelm II and Austrian emeror Franz Josef I. as well as the dates “1914” und “1915” and a catchphrase with saying of von Hindenburg: “in treue Fest” (steady and loyal).

The gold colored band suronding the goblet days: “Den eisernen Becher den vollen weiht, den eisernen Helden den Eisernen Zeit” (this iron goblet in full dedication, the iron heroes in iron times) and “1914 Kriegsbecher 1916”.

The material of the goblet is a link to ancient “iron times”, here probably mean the founding times of Germany in 1871 with Chancellor Bismarck, but also the time of war and dying, to which the slogan surrounding the goblet refers too.

The goblet is on the underside hallmarked with a small bear.

These goblets were massively produced in 1916 and were meant for all the people of both allies Germany and Austria, however, not that many were produced as the war was already in 1916 looking hopeless. These goblets were a cry for patriotism, which was the ultimate goal: to get the people to keep on supporting the war. The money made by selling the goblets was indended for the war.

While wuite a few large goblets were made, also a small number of miniatures measuring only 10 centimeters high were produced. The one we offer here is such a miniature goblet.

Germany, Third Reich. A 1933 Gau Munich Commemorative Badge by Deschler & Sohn

(Gau München Abzeichen). Constructed of bronzed copper, horizontal pinback, maker marked on reverse Deschler & Sohn, München, measuring 35.5 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition. Footnote: Item belonged to NSDAP Party Member Karl Waidhas. Karl Waidhas was born on 9 September 1895 in Weiden, Bavaria. He served in the 13th Infantry Regiment of the German Army during the First World War and, in the interwar period, was awarded decorations by Bulgaria and Hungary for his services. Waidhas joined the NSDAP on 8 August 1925, becoming member number 13875. He was later a recipient of the Golden Party Badge, which was bestowed on 14 April 1934, as well as the NSDAP 25-Year Long Service Cross, which he received on 31 May 1940. During the Second World War, Waidhas was an official with Deutsche Reichsbahn (German National Railways). According to his NSDAP membership booklet, he remained a member in good standing until March 1945.
