Exotic: Inktober Day 4. Persimmons have always intrigued me. They are exotic in Germany and in my other home countries. They are in season now and I got a few to turn into jam, tart and muffins.
I like how the trees lose their leaves and only the fruit remains on the trees. My first memory of Persimmons comes from a small garden in La Reina, Santiago de Chile, where I used to stay when I visited there in the early 90s. The house was originally built by Jose Venturelli, one of Chile's iconic painters who had an affinity for China. He had planted the Persimmon trees as a way to remember his time there. When I saw the fruits, and ate them, I fell in love with them.
I still have very fond memories of the time I spent at that house and garden.
Have you tried persimmons? I try to eat a few every season.
Continuing the theme, I used a fountain pen to define the drawing. I used Rohrer & Klinger Sepia with a dip pen with a nib from . I painted the fruits with a wonderful set by using Lemon Yellow, Saturn Red, Payne's Grey and Permanent Green Olive.
I am painting in a square 12 x 12 cm sketchbook by .eu Art creations so I can do something quickly.
My intention for this year's is to do sketches in 10 minutes or less, using the prompts to recreate a memory anchored in the prompt for the day.
