CARVING AS AUTHORSHIP

Part Three- MerinoBison - 16 mm Low Wave Loop Cut

Surface

Wild—yet completely at ease with itself. Almost like a quiet creature emerging within the surface.
Movement appears slowly, like something breathing beneath.

Craft

The surface is shaped through a dialogue—between hand and material, precision and intuition, intention and emergence.
Executed in HandLoom—precise, yet open to the final gesture.

Material&Light

100% Merino defines the character—soft, balanced, and controlled.
In 16 mm Low Wave Loop Cut, the texture settles—denser, quieter, more inward.
Light does not reflect, it absorbs.
A surface that holds itself.
Made to order—aligned with the client, not with stock.

Emotional Dimension

This piece creates a quiet safe space.
Animals have always been with me—since childhood—and remain the silent core of my work.
Here, they no longer appear as image, but as sensation—through texture and material.
A presence that does not demand attention, but offers protection.
Production takes time—around 90 days to arrive at this precision.
Luxury is not immediate; it unfolds slowly, through touch, through time.

Inspiration

Bison—deep, grounded, almost nocturnal.
A tone that pulls inward rather than outward.
Calm. Present. Protective.

Why this piece

We created this series to move beyond the visible—to let the surface hold more than what can be explained, and to create objects that carry presence: quiet, intimate, and lasting

PROCESS

The RAW Collection — Cashmere Crème Brûlée — 16 mm WaveRip
Untouched by the final decision.
The movement is already there—
formed in the fiber,
in the wave,
in the natural direction of the material.

CRAFT

The scissors are absent—
and that absence becomes the statement.
What remains is pure material intelligence:
the way cashmere falls,
lifts,
breaks light,
and creates form without intervention.

MATERIAL & LIGHT

Cashmere defines everything.
Extreme softness,
yet with a quiet inner strength.
At 16 mm WaveRip,
the surface holds a natural turbulence—
irregular, alive, slightly unpredictable.
Light does not glide—
it gets caught,
diffused,
absorbed and released again.

EMOTIONAL DIMENSION

This is a different kind of presence.
Softer.
Wilder.
More instinctive.
Something closer to nature—
where comfort and unpredictability coexist.

INSPIRATION
Like untouched terrain.
Like fur moving in the dark.
Like something living, breathing beneath the surface.
Crème Brûlée carries warmth—
but not sweetness.
There is something animal within it—
soft,
elegant,
yet not entirely domesticated.

WHY THIS PIECE

We chose not to finish it- Cashmere can take it.
And in this openness,
a different kind of luxury emerges:
Less defined.
Less controlled.
More real.
Left unfinished—
on purpose.

Alpaca DarkBrown 16 mm CutPile

PROCESS
Before the carving begins, the design is gently dusted onto the surface of the Alpaca DarkBrown 16 mm CutPile—fine chalk passing through perforated trays, settling into the dense, soft pile like a quiet premonition of what is to come.
It is a moment of stillness before action, where intention becomes visible.
Every line begins as a trace, evolves into a decision, and culminates in a cut.
Carving is not a final step—it is the moment of authorship.

CRAFT
With scissors, the surface is not merely trimmed—it is inscribed.
Within the deep, warm brown alpaca pile, each gesture shapes depth, defines rhythm, and creates shadow.
The hand follows the line, but the material responds—resisting, yielding, and ultimately co-authoring the result.
What emerges is a dialogue between control and intuition.

MATERIAL & LIGHT
Alpaca takes center stage in this piece—its fibers combining a raw, almost primal visual presence with an exceptionally soft, refined touch.
In the 16 mm cut pile, light settles differently into every carved line, amplifying depth and shadow.
As it moves across the surface, texture becomes motion—never static, always alive.
The carpet transforms into a tactile landscape of elevations and soft depressions, shaped entirely by the act of carving.

EMOTIONAL DIMENSION
This piece is conceived as a safe space—a soft, tactile architecture for living.
A place of warmth, grounding, and gentle protection underfoot.
Luxury here does not seek attention. It reveals itself slowly—through touch, through presence—deeply felt rather than overtly seen.

After a full year and 64 episodes of RUG OF THE WEEK (January 2024 – April 2025), we return in February 2026 with RUG OF THE WEEK — reloaded.
Another year of documentation.
Another year of storytelling.
Another year of sharing why we love what we do — and why hand-knotted rugs still matter.
We begin with a new design from our collection EDEN:
“Single Bird.”
A slightly autumn-inspired piece.
A quiet homage to the time when flora and fauna were documented with devotion — when discovery meant looking closely, patiently, respectfully.
Eden is a return to attention.
To look closely.
To live with detail.
To bring a sense of wonder back into the everyday.
This rug is produced in Tibetan 150 knot quality,
35% Chinese silk and 65% Tibetan Highland wool.
Size: 250 cm × 300 cm.
A masterpiece of craftsmanship.
A dedication to detail.
An invitation to slow down —
and to see nature again.
Filmed in our RUG STAR warehouse,
this REEL marks the beginning of a new year of stories.
With deep love and respect —
thank you for being part of this journey.
