Old lead bullet showing up on the inside of a green wood bowl from oak.

My upcoming solo exhibition Atelier Little TOKYO in October features many pieces that tell exciting stories.

Whenever i start working a new log, it's like going on a journey. It's like going on a log walk on a well known trail that suddenly shows a sidepath that you never walked before. You can either embrace that with curiosity or feel irritated since it's not what you expected.

Sometimes it's difficult to keep that curiosity when you struggle with your craft/art especially when you do production work parallel to artistic work.

Therefore the title of the exhibition will be Wanderlust.

Beautiful detail of the rim of a live edge bowl from European walnut.

With care and precision its possible to sand the surface without a noticeable transition between the brittle outer bark, the soft inner bark and the hard wood itself while not damaging the small details like moss or lichen. 😍

Available Atelier Little TOKYO at my second solo exhibition in October 26.

Dry flower vase from cherry. About 37cm x 8,5cm

Those cylindrical vases from green wood have been one of my most popular designs during the last few years. For me it's perfect mix between technical challenge and "let nature do it's thing".

I have tree different sizes with 5,5 6,5 and 8,5cm in diameter and some species are very hard for me to get in a size big enough to make the biggestsize possible.

For my solo exhibition Atelier Little TOKYO I was able to get a few beautiful logos from native cherry that were quite a challenge to turn but the result was more than worth it.

I just finished a big number of pieces from the Yūgen collection. Some pieces will be on display at my nex exhibition Atelier Little TOKYO in October.

This is the 3rd iteration and features some of the most beautiful grain patterns I came across in my career.

Whenever I came across some interesting grain in a piece of maple in the last four year I put it aside to become part of this collection. So it's something like a "best of the best" when it comes to grain. Therefore the pressure is quite big to make every piece as good as possible.

In addition to the exhibition, the rest of the pieces will be available an a "newsletter only" basis until December, when they'll "hit"my regular online-shop. You can register for my newsletter on my website.

Another round of live edge bowls. This time double turned. That means I turned a bowl blank, set it aside to dry and finish turning now. The wood is walnut and was the visitors favourite Atelier Little TOKYO so I tried to get some beautiful pieces for the upcoming exhibition.

A big step forward to finishing turning the pieces for my next exhibition Atelier Little TOKYO in October.

Thin walled green wood bowls from spalted oak. The spalting adds a lot of character to the sap wood, but makes it almost impossible to get a clean finish with minimal sanding. Definitely one of my more challenging projects during the last few years.

Just finished turning a batch of dry flower vases for my upcoming exhibition Atelier Little TOKYO

It's my first time using native cherry for this style of work. It's a bit of a challenge to work with, but I'm very excited to see how they look once they are finished.

This if one of my very designs where the inside is turned first as it would be impossible to hollow once they have their final diameters.

Sometimes good things take a while...

Finally, I was able to get my hands on one of 原 稔 's beautiful pieces. I started following him and his wife many years ago and was always fascinated and inspired by their beautiful work.

On our last two trips to Japan I missed 3 exhibitions by just one or two days but in the end I was lucky to get to order one through UTSUWA KESHIKI|東京・京都

Now I only need to be lucky enough to get my hands on one of 原 依子 's pieces to compliment her husbands work. Maybe on our next trip 🤞🏻
