“Was lange währt, wird endlich gut.”
A German saying that roughly translates to: good things take time.
After many months and four full development loops, our GuntherWerks Turbo project has finally reached the point where it meets our own standards.
This has been the most time-intensive sculpture we’ve ever developed — and a huge learning process for us. Our goal was clear: bring the same level of detail and metal inlay elements from our GT3 RS sculptures into the 17-inch scale.
Loop four finally got us there.
What you see here is the beginning of the final master preparation. After months of modeling, I’m now starting the first sanding stage — taking the body down to 240 grit before the first primer. This 240-grit sanding stage is used to completely remove the traces of the 3D printing from the material, and it is by far the most time-consuming of all sanding passes — taking roughly a day and a half for the vehicle body alone.
Next steps: 400 → Primer → 800 → tooling. Once the main body is finalized, the entire process starts again for all the vehicle details.
Stay tuned. craftsmanship
