Ceramicsmadebyj Hand-built/ Wheel-thrown Ceramist

Creating one-off ceramic pieces made for everyday home use.

05/06/2026

I don’t often make larger pieces on the wheel, not because I don’t have the skills for it (but also maybe I don’t), but because smaller sized ceramics like cups and mugs are mostly what people will buy, so I tend to stick to what sells well. But I wanted to practise throwing more cone shaped bowls and ended up with this salad bowl on my first attempt.

Please excuse the camera focusing on my head for half the reel. Because I only made one bowl, I didn’t have the opportunity to re-film it from a different angle!

It was also the first time I created this glaze combination that I’ve named dune. Each time I come up with a new glaze combination, I call it my new favourite, and this time is no different.

This bowl is available now online, but if it doesn’t get rehomed, I won’t be mad because it means I’ll be “forced” to keep it for myself.

Blink and you’ll miss it.

My June ceramics shop drop is live for a very short week (for one week to be exact). After that, this gal is off on summer break to celebrate her bday.

Round two of the before vs after series of pieces I’ve recently made.

This batch was full of new experiments, but if I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be the “dusk” mug/ saucer sets with the refined edges. The edges broke off during transport to the kiln, and I was planning to just recycle them. Thankfully convinced me otherwise and now I love them as they are. The rimless edge makes for grabbing the mug just that bit easier, and I’m seriously considering making all my saucers like this from now.

Don’t you just love when happy accidents work out better than you planned?

If you’ve been following me for a while now, you’d know that I’ve been making ceramic spoons for a few years. But it has been a while since I’ve shown the full making process.

This idea originally came from my husband who requested a coffee scooping spoon that he could go over with a knife. And hence the first wheel-thrown spoon from me was born. I love how versatile they are, I reach for ours more times than I can count, and not just for scooping coffee.

I’m also super excited to announce that these colourful spoons are going to be exclusively available at .hamburg, a new exhibition space opening up! If you’re a local, come by and support your small local artists.

It’s that time after a kiln firing again, where i get to show you the before vs after version of new pieces I’ve been working on. And I’m so excited/ proud to showcase the new pieces I’ve been chipping away at for the past few months.

Everything in this post will be part of my next shop update: 2.6.26 at 18.00 CEST. Like last time, the store will open for a short time (exactly one week) before it closes again for the month.

Let me know if you have any questions and I would love to hear which one you’re most excited to see online.

“Could you take some nice spontaneous pics of me here and there?”

99% of these photos were sitting in my husband’s archive, and was calling out to have it’s moment. But honestly speaking, this trend was a bit too easy to put together, which is slightly troubling.

Now who’s next?

Making a berry bowl/ strainer on the pottery wheel part I.

I saw this type of bowl pop up everywhere on my feed last year, and thought it was such a genius, practical household item. So much so that I knew I had to include it in my own collection. The first batch is currently in the works, and hoping to have them ready for the next drop at the end of this month.

Come back for part II for the glaze reveal.
