📖📯 The city did not have its own town hall until the 14th century. Instead, the council met in the house of the cloth makers, which was called "Gewandhaus“.
The Renaissance building by the architect Jakob Wolff was badly damaged during the air raids of the Second World War.
The building was shortened by two window axes on the north side. On the south side there is an integrated hall which is Gothic in the core and designed by Albrecht Dürer. 🛡

Laufer Schlagturm 📖📯 This clock tower was likely built around 1250 and some reinforcements were added
in 1508.
It is one of the few remaining towers of its era in Nuremberg.
Together with the Schuldturm on the Insel Schütt (num.19 on our map) and the WeißerTurm (num. 27 on our the map), the Laufer Schlagturm is part of the inner city wall, which was likely built in the 13th century. 🛡

Laufer Torturm 📖📯 the north tower!
The Laufer gate tower is one of the four round main towers of the Nuremberg city
fortifications, its medieval name was "Schwarz M". In 1552 this whole gate to the city was badly damaged in the Second Margrave War. 🛡
Visit and stand right next to this Medieval giant!

Maxtormauer in Nürnberg 📖📯 the northern part on our map.
The defensive wall of the city was built around the year 1400 and is equipped with a
battlement walkway and a ditch lined on both sides. Highly recommended for a nice walk in the city. 🛡
