Outdoor lighting has the power to transform a space long after sunset. More than a functional necessity, it shapes atmosphere, highlights architectural details, and extends the experience of a place into the evening hours.

From sculptural floor lamps and portable lanterns to statement chandeliers designed for the outdoors, I’ve gathered some of my favorite outdoor lighting designs that bring character, warmth, and a strong sense of place.

Stone-integrated sockets have become a defining detail in contemporary interior architecture, especially within kitchens, bathrooms and gallery-inspired living spaces. Rather than interrupting the surface, the outlet dissolves into the material itself, preserving visual continuity and emphasizing craftsmanship. Frequently seen in Belgian and Scandinavian interiors, this approach reflects the language of quiet luxury: discreet, material-led and highly intentional.

Johanne Birkeland, the Oslo-based ceramist behind Jossolini, creates sculptural table lamps using traditional pottery techniques such as wheel throwing, pinching, and coiling, giving each piece a distinct character and handcrafted feel. What immediately drew us in is how her designs move beyond conventional lighting and sit somewhere between functional objects and collectible sculptures; organic forms, graphic patterns, and subtle material details make each piece feel highly expressive. I completely fell for these designs and can easily see them becoming the focal point of a room. What do you think?

From deep walnut tones to burl patterns, smoked veneers to richly grained wood surfaces, every type of wood carries its own rhythm, texture and character. Some feel architectural and sharp, others softer, warmer and almost sculptural. No two grains are ever the same — and that’s what makes wood endlessly fascinating.

So I brought together a selection of wood textures under the title Wood Textures Worth Touching for those who appreciate the tactile beauty of natural materials as much as I do.
