I create furniture for homes, schools and kindergartens. Originally from Germany, I qualified as a cabinet maker in Dresden and then went on to further my education, gaining a degree in wood Design and Technology at the Hamburg University of Applied Science. I moved to New Zealand in 2005, and after working for one of the large national construction companies, it wasn't long before I realised I had to follow my passion of making unique, high quality handmade furniture. UNIQUE DESIGN
I have a fairly unique design aesthetic, definitely rustic, yet not rugged and chunky. There are not many straight lines in nature, I think my furniture reflects the organic curves nature creates, finished to a high standard with great attention to detail. TIMBER
My workshop is based at Tauriko Sawmill near Tauranga, so I have excellent access to a range of timbers, mainly Macrocarpa, Lawson Cypress, Redwood and Eucalyptus (Gum) although I can source any timber you require. I make a lot of furniture with Macrocarpa, it's a fantastic timber, popular for both indoor and outdoor use. Outside and above the ground Macrocarpa is naturally equivalent to H3 pine in durability, but without all the nasty chemicals.
