Galloping horses, colourful jockeys and snow-capped mountains come together in this Italian poster from 1935. Scaccia Scarafoni created a vivid composition in which the energy of the horses contrasts with the calm Alpine landscape. Green and golden tones are balanced by cool blues and the warm chestnut colours of the horses.

The poster advertises Merano’s international autumn sporting events, with the Grand Prix on 20 October as one of the highlights. The English text also announces an international dog show and a tennis tournament, giving the poster the character of both a travel advertisement and a historical sporting poster.

Printed by S. A. Arti Grafiche Bertarelli in Milan. The poster measures 70 × 101 cm and bears the artist’s printed signature in the lower right corner.

Just added: an original Air France lithograph from 1952.
Designed by the renowned French poster artist Jacques Auriac, this stunning Côte d’Azur travel poster captures everything that made the French Riviera the dream destination of the post-war era: sunshine, elegance, yachts, palm trees and the promise of effortless travel.
What I love most about this piece is its vibrant colour palette and the unmistakable quality of the original stone lithographic printing. Every colour was printed separately, layer by layer, creating a depth and richness that modern reproductions simply cannot replicate.
Despite some signs of age and use, it remains a beautiful survivor from the golden age of travel advertising — and a wonderful example of why original Air France posters are so highly sought after by collectors today.

Another remarkable piece has found its new home.

This rare original Franz Lenhart lithograph, created for the German market under the title *Winter Sport in Italien*, has just been sold to an Italian collector with a deep passion for both skiing and vintage travel posters.

Lenhart was one of the great masters of European travel poster design, and this work captures everything that makes his art so sought after: elegance, movement, atmosphere, and a timeless vision of the Alps. Produced for the legendary ski destination Cortina and printed by Officine Grafiche S.V. Levi, it stands as a true lithographic masterpiece from the golden age of travel advertising.

What makes this example even more special is its condition. Posters of this rarity rarely appear on the market, and finding one preserved this beautifully is becoming increasingly difficult. It may well be many years before another example surfaces — if ever.

It is also a perfect example of the unique collection of original vintage posters we are fortunate to handle. These are not reproductions, but genuine pieces of design history that have survived nearly a century.

Congratulations to the new owner in Italy.

Three original Dutch travel posters just added to the shop. Three completely different visions of Holland.

From the bold Art Deco graphics of Beautiful Sands from 1922, to the surreal wooden shoe landscape by Cor V. Velsen, and the iconic windmill composition — these lithographic posters capture a time when travel advertising was created as real art.

What fascinates me most about these pieces is not only their rarity, but the stories they carry. Fold lines from decades of storage. Small traces of time. Original stone lithographic printing techniques that modern reproductions simply cannot replicate.

These are not just posters. They are fragments of European design history.

Two absolutely breathtaking original Peter Maxwell Ewart (1918–2001) lithographs from our collection have found a new home in Canada.

First, the collector acquired the iconic Canadian Rockies poster. But once he experienced the craftsmanship, colours and depth of the original lithograph in person, he returned for another masterpiece — this time a more minimalistic Canadian skiing poster.

What we love most is that these works were not purchased as investments, but out of a genuine passion for Canadian skiing, travel history and timeless design that he also wanted to pass on to his kids in the future.

Each original vintage poster we offer is truly one of a kind. Beyond their rarity, these lithographs carry a unique story, exceptional preservation and an authenticity that simply cannot be recreated — even by similar posters on the market.
