Flensted Hanging Art FLENSTED MOBILES
Handmade in Denmark since 1953. Movement & Balance ♥️

Flensted Mobiles is a family business through 3 generations, creating movement and balance for you and your home. The first Flensted mobile, “The Danish Lucky Storks”, was created in 1953 by Christian and Grethe Flensted and to this day still flies to all corners of the earth. A Flensted mobile is not only designed in Denmark, it is also handmade in Denmark, on the island of Funen, where Hans Chri

stian Andersen was born. Alongside our regular assortment, we create unique large-scale installations and have developed several custom-made mobiles, mainly in cooperation with museums. With their peaceful, flowing and mesmerizing movements, our mobiles create a space for reflection and meditation.

A colourful mobile celebrating sustainability ♥️

Created in honour of the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals, this mobile’s organic forms and colours subtly remind us of the importance of working together for a more balanced and harmonised world 🫶🏼 Every colour represents a development goal and of course, as every other Flensted mobile, the UN 17 mobile is made by hand in Denmark 🇩🇰

Designed by Rose & Rose Design, the Royal Danish Academy and Flensted Mobiles.

Three elephants. Three generations. 73 years of movement and balance.

In 1976, 26-year-old Ole Flensted designed Elephant Party while working in the family company his father founded in 1953 🐘 It was only his third mobile design — yet it soon became one of Flensted Mobiles’ most beloved classics 🫶🏼

Inspired by a small group of elephants walking together, Ole created simple silhouettes that move calmly and in perfect balance. Heavy animals that suddenly floated lightly in the air ☺️

For 50 years, the elephants have now been gently moving with the currents of the room — bringing calm, movement and poetry into homes around the world. ✨ A small family in motion just like our family company.

Do you have one of Ole’s Elephants at home? We’d LOVE to see it! Just tag us on your photo with our tag ♥️ Warm wishes, Your Mobilemakers 💫

As you might know, we have just launched our autumn collection of mobiles, so let’s dig into their stories ♥️
Ole Flensted’s Drifting Clouds, No. 158 (shown on picture 1 and 5), has been a beloved mobile since its birth in 2016 💫 Ole’s original thought was to recreate that feeling of lying in the grass on a summer’s day, watching the clouds drift by ☁️☀️☁️ Over the years, we’ve received a lot of requests from people that didn’t have the space for it in their homes, as it is quite voluminous… 🪽 So now, Drifting Clouds in medium, No. 158m, is here (shown on picture 1-4) ☁️🍂💫 Wishing you a lovely Sunday ♥️ Your Mobilemakers 🇩🇰

’Kisses’ 💋 is designed by Christian Flensted’s granddaughter, Christine Kit Flensted, in cooperation with her partner, Mikael Hauberg. The mobile is made in birch veneer, and brass-coloured rods, and like all designs in Flensted Mobiles, it is handmade in Denmark 💫 First, the veneer is cut out on the old Flensted Heidelberg machine on Frederiksminde (The mobile Centre and Christine’s childhood home) and then the Kisses are brought out to the Flensted homeworkers, that assemble each mobile by hand 🫶🏼 This design is available in three versions ♥️

Balancing things is easier said that done 🙃 Being mobile makers we know this 😁 Balancing work and life, balancing input vs. output, and balancing our mobiles… 🫠 Here is Christian Flensted, who started Flensted Mobiles with his wife Grethe back in 1953… As you can see, he also had a lot to balance ♥️

You know how so many people say that it’s great to let go of things…? Well - sometimes, that might be true, but here in Flensted Mobiles, we are thankful that all generations have been great at keeping things 😍 We are currently exploring old photos, diaries and the mobile archive dating back to 1953, as we want to systematize all the memories in the company’s history 🙃 During our treasure hunt, Ole Flensted told us about the time in 1956 when his parent’s, Christian and Grethe, received an impressive order from Shell in the Netherlands; 50,000 Scandinavian Swan mobiles 🦢 This was a huge thing back in 1956 - only three years after the launch of the company 🥳 And then the other day: Look what we found in a second hand store: One of the old Swan mobiles, with the original Shell logo on it ♥️ Something’s definitely in the air! Hugs from The Flensted Team 💫
