New Works presents a collection at the intersection between old and new. Light and dark. Design and art.

Our work pays homage to the strong Scandinavian history of craftsmanship and materiality, whilst challenging the contemporary forms of today. Through collaboration with International acknowledged designers, we add a spice to our scandinavian heritage, which we respect, but want to challenge. Our approach is heavily influenced by our experiments with natural materials and geometric forms, giving our work a nice sculptural touch. We strive to build objects that are not just comfortable to sit in, but also interesting to look at.

Eskoleia has worked with sheet steel since 1912. More than a century on, the company still develops and produces its furniture in Kongsvinger, with development and manufacturing under one roof. Here, drawings meet machinery almost immediately, and an idea must hold up not just on paper but in metal. It is where Unit was born.

The collection is a collaboration between Norwegian designer Jonas Ravlo Stokke, Eskoleia and New Works. It began with an exploration of what can happen when a producer’s knowledge of steel meets a contemporary approach to storage.

Unit takes a modernist approach to storage, pairing clean lines with a distinctly architectural expression. Designed by Jonas Ravlo Stokke and made in Norway by Eskoleia, the series is shaped from folded steel with a focus on proportion, precision and function. Available in six units and 25 colours, each made to order.⁠

Our Journal: Notes on Light⁠

A room is never quite the same room twice in a day. As daylight moves across a space, colours shift, shadows lengthen, and materials take on different qualities. Marble catches the morning sun, wood absorbs it, while glass reflects and passes light on. As the day fades, individual light sources begin to shape the room, allowing some areas to come forward while others remain in shadow.⁠

A rug can change the way a room feels. It softens the space, introduces texture and creates a surface that brings furniture and objects together. The New Works rug collection explores these qualities through two distinct designs: the chunky, tactile Knot Rug by Lotta Agaton and the subtly rhythmic Sway Rug, each offering its own way of adding warmth, texture and depth to an interior.⁠
