🌿 Pro tips to make your tropicals last longer!

Tropical flowers need a little extra hydration to stay beautiful and last longer. Here are the tips I’m showing you in this video:

💧 1. Hydrate the flower head
The best way to hydrate tropicals like gingers, torches, shampoos and heliconias is to place the flower head directly in room-temperature water.

⏱️ 2. Leave it for a few seconds under water
Let the flower head hydrate for a few seconds.

✂️ 3. Cut a little bit off the stem
After hydrating the flower head, make a fresh cut on the stem.

💦 4. Place it back in fresh water bucket 🪣
Always return your tropical to clean, fresh water after making the cut. Make sure they are standing straight!

🌱 5. Spray twice a day
We recommend spraying your tropicals twice a day to help maintain hydration and achieve better vase life. (It’s the key secret for Tropicals)

✨ this is something you can always do with your gingers, torches, shampoos and heliconias!

Save this for the next time you bring tropicals home. 🌴

Love to see how amazing our Prince of Darkness look ! It’s a very special big heliconia with dark burgundy bracts! We offer it at 90 cm or 120 cm.

First harvest of two new Heliconia varieties we’ve been developing. 🌿✨

At Magic Flowers, we don’t just grow tropical flowers—we discover, rescue, propagate, and develop them ourselves. That’s why introducing a new variety takes years.

Unlike many other flower industries, the tropical world has virtually no commercial breeders. Every new variety begins with finding something extraordinary in nature, carefully propagating it, and patiently multiplying it until it’s ready to share with the world.

This is the beginning of the journey for these two beautiful new Heliconias. We can’t wait to see them in designers’ hands around the globe. 🌺

Today we’re unboxing one of the most special heliconia species we grow at Magic Flowers: the Bloody Mary Hairy Heliconia. 🌺✨

Yes… it’s actually hairy! Its soft, velvety texture, extra-long stem, and vibrant pink and yellow bracts make it unlike any other tropical flower.

And those dark markings on the bracts? They’re completely natural—one of the unique characteristics that make this variety so special.

Impossible not to get addicted to using Asclepias in every single arrangement! They instantly add texture, movement, and so much visual interest.

We used to grow them years ago, and we’re excited to have brought them back to our farm. We absolutely love growing them at Magic Flowers and sharing their unique beauty with floral designers and flower lovers around the world.
