The future of glassblowing in Egypt hangs in a delicate balance.

For generations, master artisans have shaped molten glass by hand—each piece carrying skill, patience, and a story. But today, with mass production taking over, this craft is quietly fading. Fewer hands are learning it, and fewer workshops remain.

At Mamlouk, we believe preservation isn’t about nostalgia—it’s about continuity.

Through his glass studio, Hossam is doing the work of keeping this craft alive—rebuilding the space, refining the process, and most importantly, passing the skill on to a new generation of artisans ✨

Light doesn’t just touch blown glass—it settles into it, catching every curve and imperfection along the way.

A craft that never disappears — only evolves.

Khayamia is still impossible to truly replicate, carried forward by patient hands, new ideas, and designs that continue to blend tradition with imagination.

Egyptian patchwork is more than fabric stitched together — it’s geometry, patience, and generations of skill.

This is slow craft. Nothing automated. Nothing rushed.

Watch to see how traditional Egyptian patchwork comes to life.

Introducing Atef Fattoh - a master of khayamiya patchwork, and a partner we’ve worked with for over 40 years.

Every stitch is cut and applied by hand, layer by layer - a craft passed down through generations, kept alive through patience and precision.

This Ramadan, when tradition feels closer and meaning runs deeper, we’re reminded that real heritage isn’t rushed. It’s made slowly, by people who’ve given their lives to it.

Honoured to continue this journey together ✨
