Paris always gives me a reason to return. This time, it was Armand-Albert Rateau.
Reading about his work made me think of all the times I’d walked along rue Barbet-de-Jouy without knowing that the apartment he designed for Jeanne Lanvin had once stood there. Sometimes it takes a little time, a little reading, and a second look to notice what was there all along.
What I find compelling about Rateau is the way he considered the whole: the furniture, the space and every detail as part of the same idea. It’s an approach to design that continues to resonate with us at JoverValls.
