We went to a few museums in Barcelona and there were some great wooden furniture pieces… like these doors and chairs designed by Gaudi that were from Casa Batllo originally- all of his designs have rounded edges (must be a pain to finish tbh). All furnitures have elaborate carvings everywhere, even the feet of the chairs were decorated with beast carvings! A lot of good quality wood was used too including walnut.
The second last contraption is from the Design museum and is part of a competition… it is supposed to be a lift to help the elderly move heavy loads from the upstairs of a house to the downstairs and vice versa. I also took a photo of the Virgin Mary and Child from the National Art Museum of Catalunya since it is wood and ?polychrome but it doesnt look like it is wood at all?!
Pretty crazy how intricate antique wood furniture can be and the amount of dedication put into their creation.
