The client said yes to the open kitchen. Then hesitated for two weeks on the island...

A 3-room apartment in Barcelona. The kitchen was closed off, the center of the flat was dead space. We proposed opening it up completely and putting the island where the wall used to be.
The concern was real: an island in the middle of everything feels big on paper. It changes how you move through the space, where you eat, where you land when you walk in.

3 months later, it's the first thing everyone notices. Not because it's large — because it belongs there.
