Welcome friends and artists to the Design Eye Creative ‘paper on skin’ 2020. Today we launch ‘Call for Entries’ for what promises to be a truly special competition and event. Very excited to announce our new naming rights sponsor – local business Design Eye Creative. We also have an increased Prize Pool – now $10 000. And THREE new awards.
2020 Awards:
$5000 Design Eye Creative Major Award.
$2000 Honorable Roger Jaensch MP Runner-Up Award.
NEW $1000 Tasmanian Hearing and Implant Centre – Dr Kellie Walker’s Encouragement Award – for recognition of talent and to encourage pursuit of the artform.
NEW Awagami Paper Award in Recognition of the use of Handmade Paper – a selection of Awagami Editioning papers to the value of over AUD$500 - to recognise the use of handmade, artisanal and/or non-commercial paper.
NEW $1000 Award in honour of Pam and Neil Thorne – a special award which reflects the core concept of ‘paper on skin’, an idea conceived and developed by Burnie artist Pam Thorne with support from her (equally paper-passionate) husband Neil. This award will be judged by the Burnie Regional Art Gallery Director to highlight the strong partnership between ‘paper on skin’ and the gallery. It is sponsored by Janet De Boer OAM.
