Designing a small bar-restaurant can be more challenging than working on a large space.
This project in Mijas asked for a very specific balance: creating an atmosphere inspired by the grand cafés of Holland, while responding to a coastal Mediterranean setting, a reduced surface, and a limited budget.
From the very beginning, it was important for the owner that the bar counter became the heart of the space: a place full of life, interaction, and movement. That idea shaped the entire layout, encouraging people to gather, connect, and enjoy the space in a natural, informal way.
We also paid special attention to inclusivity, integrating the bar design with a lower section that allows comfortable use for wheelchair users, without breaking the overall aesthetic or flow of the space.
The result is a compact bar-restaurant that feels welcoming, lively, and thoughtfully designed. A reminder that strong concepts, social energy, and inclusive solutions matter far more than size or budget.
Sometimes, limitations are exactly what push a project in the right direction.
