Meet illustrator and printmaker Valpuri Kerttula from Lahti!

“Since graduating with BA (hons) in illustration from Edinburgh College of Art in 2016, Valpuri has illustrated picture books published both internationally and domestically. Valpuri runs her own brand of paper products, home goods and art prints. She also teaches printmaking classes and works on custom illustration and design projects for clients.

Welcome Seni Illustrations!

Over time, I developed a special connection with birds, discovering their vital role in the environment and the threats they face, such as habitat loss. On Saturday, we hosted our very first Creatives’ Lab! The goal of these events is to support artists on their journey, and this time, we focused on market preparation—especially with FDM Spring just around the corner.

We wanted to help emerging artists feel more confident about upcoming markets while giving experienced ones a chance to refresh their knowledge (and maybe pick up a new tip or two).

We put together a practical guide with useful insights, drawing from our own experience, input from fellow artists, and feedback from market visitors. Our guest speaker, , also shared her approach and valuable advice on preparing for markets.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined and participated! We identified some areas for improvement and will be back with even better events.
