Such a simple, yet profound statement.

The first time I truly felt the meaning of those words was at an event last year.

Someone asked one of the speakers, who had been traveling non-stop, “Isn’t it exhausting to be away from home so much?”

She smiled and said, “Not really, because I’ve found home in myself.”

Her words hit me like a lightning bolt. I could feel what she meant.

Even though she was meeting new people every day and constantly changing locations, what kept her grounded was that feeling of home within—of being at peace with herself, wherever she went.

Her words reminded me how important it is to feel at home—both inside ourselves and in the places we live.

When your space reflects who you are, it becomes an extension of that inner home.

That’s what I love about interior design. It's not just about how things look—it’s about how they make you feel.

Hi, I’m Helena 👋

I’m an interior designer based in Finland, originally from Germany. I first came here on an Erasmus exchange in 2016 and quickly fell in love—with the country, the people, and the way of life 🌲. So I stayed.

I’ve always been drawn to solving everyday problems and creating spaces that support balance and wellbeing—something that’s been important in my own life, too.

Before opening my interior design studio in 2023, I worked in marketing and user experience design. That background taught me how to truly listen, understand different perspectives, and create solutions that are tailored to each individual 💖

Now, I bring together my project management skills, my passion for helping people live more grounded, harmonious lives, and a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.

My goal is to help you design a home that reflects who you are—and feels like home, every time you walk in 🏡😍

Today is a special day 🥰

🌟 I am officially launching Maielena Interiors! 🌟

Over the past year, I've been working on something new, and today I'm excited to finally share it with you. I'm launching Maielena Interiors—my very own interior design business! My goal is to help people create homes that feel good, give new energy, and truly support the way you live.

How did I get here?

It all started back in university when I studied user-centered design and research. I loved learning about what motivates people, the challenges they face, and how we can create solutions that really work for them. That interest has stayed with me throughout my career.

After my last job, I felt the need to dive back into my passion for design. I’ve spent most of my career in the digital world, but I started craving something more hands-on. Funny enough, if I look even further back, I remember designing the interior of motorhomes as a 5-year-old while traveling with my grandparents across Europe. (Yes, my love for design started early! 🥰)

I remember joking about becoming an interior designer many years ago. But last year, I decided to make that dream a reality. I’ve spent the past year learning as much as I can about interior design—through self-study, online courses, and hands-on projects (special thanks to Axxell Överby!). And now, here we are—I’ve registered my business, launched my website, and set up social media so I can start helping people like you.

Unbecoming everything that isn’t really you.

Let that ring in you for a bit 🔔

The more I look at myself, the more I notice what that is.

Whether it’s something a friend made me believe about myself in the past.

Something that a parent or grandparent 👴 repeatedly told me while I was too young to even understand it

Something I got taught at school 🎓

Or something I saw on TV or on the internet 📺

There's an infinite number of sources that tell us what we should be, what we should believe, how we should live.

But at the end of the day, what is it that I hear when I turn my attention to myself? When I go inward?

If we take away all the ifs or buts we know exactly what we want 💎

And it’s the same with our homes. Over the years we’ve accumulated something from here, something from there 🛋️, we got something gifted or donated 🖼️ by a friend or family member.

But what of it is really us? What do we like? What do we want to be surrounded by everyday?

Start with yourself. And don’t be afraid to follow this path to create a dream home that supports your dream life 🪄
